How do you pack your gym bag?

Anonymous
What are good techniques to keep a gym bag packed and ready to go?

I need basic toiletries like shampoo and conditioner and face wash.
I am new to developing a routine but I most typically would wear my exercise clothes to the gym and change afterwards. Just keep a spare exercise outfit in the bag and swap it out when I get home? And then put in nicer clothes if I need to go somewhere other than home after?

These are basic questions but I keep ending up forgetting something so thought I'd look for tips.

you will need to do it every time you go, not just once.

I’m a little confused. If you are going straight home, and go to the gym in your workout clothes, why do you need a bag? I would just shower at home.

When I go to the gym then work I pack: work clothes (including shoes, belt, undergarments), towel (if not provided), shower shoes, soap/shampoo, brush, make up and curling iron.

Unpack every night and then repack.

It’s also always a good idea to have a backup pair of underwear/bra just in case it’s forgotten.

I pack for the week, and keep it in the truck of my car.

- 5 shirts
- 3 shorts/2 capri leggings
- 5 pairs of good socks
- gym shoes
- flipflops for the shower or pool

I wear my gym clothes home and shower at home, drop work clothes off in the laundry room on my way in the door at home. I do have a toiletries bag, but don't use it often. Mostly I keep a bag of clean sweatbands, pony tail holders, combs, face wipes and deodorant.

If you need to shower they have soap attached to the stalls. I mainly use it for rinsing off after a pool workout.

And on the weekends I leave the house in work clothes (grab shoes from the trunk), and return in the same clothes. No bag needed. Just a water bottle and car keys.

I have a toiletry bag that stays in my gym bag and i refill/replace products as necessary plus my gym shoes. Past that I wear my workout clothes to the gym and put whatever outfit I’m wearing for the day into my gym bag for after I shower. I don’t really get what you don’t get about how to pack a gym bag.

I try to pack my gym bag minimally these days. Before I realized I was lugging around so much crap in my bag and didn't even need half of it. I work out mainly at home or run outdoors but still go to the gym 2-3x/week to lift weights or on bad weather days.

If I am coming from home I wear my gym clothes there - if its cold I wear leggings and change into my shorts when I get there and bring a clean shirt and bra for afterwards.

I usually don't get too sweaty from weight lifting so I don't shower. I just freshen up with a few wipes and deodorant and change into clean underwear. Touch up hair and makeup if needed.

If I plan on doing heavy cardio at the gym then in addition to above I'll bring a small towel and flip flops for the shower. I use the provided soap and lotion in the locker room. I don't bother with makeup or anything else because I am usually going straight home afterwards.

I do heavy cardio and lifting every day before work, so I have to shower at the gym. Fortunately, my gym has shampoo/conditioner/body wash, so I only have to bring a few toiletries. This is what I pack (I used to have a list to make sure I remembered, but now it has become habit):
- undershirt (am a guy)
- underwear
-tie
-work socks
-work shoes
-belt
-shower sandals

I take my suit and dress shirt separately - lay it out on the back seat of the car.

I pack everything the night before. I also wipe my shower sandals and the inside of my bag with a Clorox wipe every day.

Thank you! I keep forgetting shower sandals.

Sauna/steam room. Or if I go to the gym with the pool. Don't like to put on dirty clothes afterwards, of course.

This is what I pack:

toiletries kit with small sizes of everything I need (I leave this in my gym bag all the time)
makeup and hair ties (I leave this in my bag all the time - I have a second set of make up at home)
shower shoes (leave in bag all the time)
change of clothes for after gym (put in a new set every time I go to the gym)

Same but I don't shower after unless I'm REALLY sweaty. I use a blower drier on my dry hair to dry the sweat out.

How do your coworkers feel about this choice?

I find that I always forget something if I'm not dressed in my clothes for the day when I go to the gym. So, I just pack exercise clothes and have toiletries that just stay in the bag.

If you wear your workout clothes to the gym, then you don't keep them in the gym bag.

Things that are always in my gym bag:
A set of toiletries
Shower shoes/flip-flops
An extra hair tie or headband or whatever you use
An extra pair of underwear

Things that I pack each time:
What I will wear afterwards
