Many families still play board games! People are always asking for them on our buy nothing group.
Our family's favorites are Telestrations (great to play this with all ages/generations), Uno, Game of Life and Yahtzee. |
| My 15 year old and I loved working through the pandemic legacy games. Cooperative, so no one felt better than the other (or discouraged) and a good change to bond us. |
| Our family plays board games. I think parents probably help set the tone, at least initially. |
| I love board games but my kid doesn’t, despite my best efforts at indoctrination. |
| We play board games. But it might just depend on where you focus your time. Some people do lots of hikes and outdoorsy things with their kids, others don't do any. Some people cook and bake a lot with their kids, some people don't. Some people do family movie nights or go out to the movies a lot, others don't. It depends on what the adults like doing, and what your kids gravitate towards, and what activities best suit your family dynamic. |
| It also matters whether the game is optimized for the number of players. Some games are better for 3-4, some for a crowd. If there are just two of you playing, I'd find some games that are intended as 2-player games. |
| I agree OP. We’ve had friends over that have never played the games. I personally hate monopoly but will play Uno , connect 4, guess who with my kid. |
We can't tell you why you're not playing board games anymore. We have a cabinet full and play them all the time, as do our kids when they have friends over. |
| I do play games with my kid sometimes. Probably less than once a week though. The main reason usxshile I know it’s good for my kid I find it boring. It’s kind numbing sometimes. The other answer is screens…. Too many people ( kids and adults) are in their own worlds now online, prioritizing human interaction with our kids isn’t happening. |
+1 |
| I don't have children but I can tell you as a child I would have been so happy and grateful if someone played board games with me so I think that's awesome you are playing with your kids now. |
| We do. We play Rummikub, Monopoly, chess, Scrabble, Cards Against Humanity (granted, not a board game), a bunch of card games, etc. |
