Exactly. In what way did he “host”? |

I found my old copy of 7 and flipped through it laughing. Here’s an excerpt from the end of her “possessions” month:
“Will I just replace all this? Will I purge another 1,000 items three years from now? Will I slowly refill the empty spaces? Or will my family disconnect from the machine, creating a more courageous legacy than simply consuming?” Sis…. Do I have news for you….. |
| Ouch. |

I loved 7 when I first read it and passed out copies to friends and even had a discussion group on the concept. Then I picked it up a couple of years ago to try and reconcile what I thought I had read with how life turned out.
Spoiler alert- it reads VERY differently from the vantage point of seeing where the chips landed. The anecdotes about Brandon that seemed like cute banter now seem really disrespectful. The anecdotes about ANC are now tainted by all of the hurt people who have come forward to point out the discrepancies in those stories. I feel like Jen is heading toward Dave Hollis territory in that she seems to be trying to post less on social media, but then this thread puts out the option that she might've spent Thanksgiving without her kids, so she immediately has to post to counter that. Now today, she's showing a post of peeled/chipped off nail polish. This is only something usually done in distress. She's going to need to get off social media and get a legit job and just unplug if there's going to be any hope at this point. |
This is what I wish she'd do. Just be a regular, non-public person with a regular job. It'd be better for her and everyone else. |
But she's special. |
|
Jen is still chasing the ghost of 2015 It Girl Jen.
That Jen is long past. The sooner she realizes this the better. Exactly as stated above. For everyone involved. There’s no shame in getting a real job after a season of being a best selling author with a bit of success on HGTV. |

So...Tyler is offering us a chance to be part of his amazing community built around his new book. His book, which, according to him, is exactly what we all need right now. He makes it seem like it's going to be a very special online place, full of connection bla bla bla.
Guess what? You get to be a part of this "team", this luminous thing, when YOU PREORDER THE BOOK. Jen has taught him well. It's sort of breathtaking. |
Every word he said sounded exactly like Jen was saying it. |
| May I speak on how cringe another, now “podcast influencer “ wannabe is? Carl Lentz . I just cannot with his corny ass leather sleeved shirts and unbuttoned shirts just exposing his chest. He is trying. Way. Too. Hard . Why the hell is this idiot still given an audience? |
|
What astounds me is that people actually fall for this. I have zero desire to read anything either of them ever write again and I only come here because the snark is fun and I hope Jane Capsticher will come back.
Looks like Tyler went to the Jen Hatmaker school of "I pick my face on camera." If these people are so special and professional whyeeee don't they get someone to point out that these things look foolish and whyeeee doesn't someone from Tyler's team talk to him about basic grooming? His nails are icky. |
And you guys think he doesn't really have a relationship with Jen. This proved that they are really close. |
Soft soaping and snake oil selling. After all these years of the false promises of social media and online community, how do people still believe these claims? |
Relationship, yes. Romance and True Love, no. Two people with one starry eyed and the other meh is still a relationship. Two people using each other is still a relationship. Whether they’re filling their own neediness or it’s to their business benefit to do so. |
| I hate when Sis interviews or promotes people that I love. I feel like it taints them. I know there are publicists and publishers and contracts involved, but still…. Tig could do so much better. |
