She is power hungry and is angling to eventually take McCarthy's job. I don't like her, she scares me and she should scare you as well |
It would have to be McCarthy’s job first for her to take it. |
Currently 212 Democrats and 222 Republicans in office.
Current count has McCarthy already losing 10 votes (7 Biggs, 3 Others). So, looks like Jeffries is going to get more votes than McCarthy is. Neither one will get enough to win the office, but it is telling that the minority leader will have more votes than the leading majority candidate. |
SOrry, wrong thread. |
If Moore v. Harper goes the wrong way, her district disappearing would be one of the minor positives |
A gerrymander that’s not quite so aggressive that it goes to the courts could/would have accomplished that. |
The NYT and WP did good stories on her saying she used to be "normal" but then went total "MAGA |
Yes, it was around the time of the first impeachment IIRC. Honestly McCarthy is in that boat as well. |
Anything to hold on to power |
She’s a woman and a conservative, which takes a ton of bravery. |
cognitive dissonance is the term you're looking for |
Yes, so brave to tell other women what they can or cannot do with their own bodies. And so conservative. ![]() |
You say the same thing about black people who vote Republican, don't you? |
Being a conservative isn't brave. In many parts of the country, it's basically the safest position you can stake out. I haven't seen a proper conservative in years. These days we have Democrats who love this country and rabid Trump supporters who hate it and all that it stands for. She is in the latter camp. She also can't dress her way out of a paper bag. |
+100 Conservatism is, by definition, about preserving the status quo. It has nothing whatsoever to do with new, forward-looking ideas of the sort that actually require any bravery. |
