Did any new families get FA for next year?

Just curious if any new families got FA for next year? If so, what school and how much? I got ZERO because the schools gave all of their available FA to returning families. I understand the need to help out current families but it is hard to know that my DS got into some great schools and can't go.

Yes - but I would prefer not to say which school. It was a very generous grant, without which my DD could not attend.

Yes here also. We are so grateful. Without the FA DC would not be able to attend.

OP here. Did you get a lot of FA or a few thousand? Was it close to a full ride?

We also received generous FA for our DS. However, I understand your pain as one of the schools we applied to put us on the financial aid waiting list. Luckily we had other options as two schools had given us about 75% of tuition. We are also very grateful since we definitely would not have been able to afford it without the FA!!

About 85%.

I also received a very generous amount of aid for my DC, I will not state the school, but it is 3/4's of the amaount. I am very thankful and still in shock really. Good luck to those waiting and cograts to those who have already received the good news!

We received a few thousand, so about 1/5th of the tuition.

Can I ask what your income is if you received FA? Are you two full time earners or do you have one Stay at home? You really seem to need a large income in order to afford these tuitions. We make $175000 (gross)as a two earner family and we didn't qualify for anything with 2 kids in private school. We took out some loans to get by for awhile. Obviously, we can't keep this up. I think these schools do a disservice to themselves by not helping middle income families. And, yes, we consider ourselves middle income in this region. We have 2 old non designer cars, no investment income, help out one grandparent financially. We travel to see family (none in the area). No vacations just for ourselves. Our mortgage is higher than it should be but then whose isn't around here. Anyway, if only the children of the wealthy can attend these schools then no wonder the smartest kids end up in public.

You make a very high amount of money.

Financial aid should not be wasted on people who foolishly bought houses where they couldnt afford the mortgage. I don't feel sorry for you.

I actually was feeling sorry for you, until I read your last comment. Petty, petty, petty!

Um, mine. It's about 13% of our NET take home. With two kids in private school, I don't try to have a monster house, too.
