Scramble to complete applications for ED2 or RD?

Anyone else’s kid trying to finish last minute applications since most are due this week if they’re going ED2 or RD? My DS keeps adding/subtracting from his list!

Yes. DC has added some schools and still has essays to write. I’m biting my tongue and will be glad when we’ve passed January 4th.

Because of early acceptances DC has been subtracting RD applications but has to decide today about an ED2 option so we're all on pins and needles. Happy New Year.

DS stayed up til 3am to finish a long essay for one of his last 2 RD apps. He’s doing the essay for the last one as we speak!

We thought he could just tweak his personal statement and be done with it, but he’s had to write a lot of new stuff in this application process.

My DC is not scrambling, but they did add an ED2 school and three more RD schools. This year’s admissions process is as brutal as — if not more than — last year!

Yep. Two ivies. Hard to keep motivation given the odds, but suggested that you will regret later if you don't at least give it a shot.

Is your question really “did anyone’s HS senior procrastinate on one or more college applications?”

Might as well ask if the pope is catholic or if Trump cheats on his taxes.

Procrastination as in they had a ton of other work to do, sure. My kids didn’t just daydream or party, you know.

DD tweaked her list a bit based on how some of her friends fared in ED1, so she sent out a few more RD applications to hopefully be safe!

T50 Case Western and Northeastern don't have the dumb extra essay that only make kids life miserable.
The've worked hard for 3.5 years. Colleges should have enough information already.

MCPS has 'deadlines' on when to request transcripts so basically the list needs to be completed before the break so they can be sent on time. I wished we can make some changes.

In part, extra school specific essays are a form of yield protection.

Seems obvious that Case Western Reserve and N'eastern want more applications so they make the process easier.

I know what you are saying PP but then there is nothing easy about Case Western. The school not asking for an additional essay reflects their philosophy once there. Efficiency and no extra fluff and a "just the facts" mindset rule thankfully.

Not the OP, but my DC got several rejections, which prompted a desire to submit a few more applications.
