I’m going to:

Completely empty bathroom, vacuum, deep scrub, wash everything, reset.

Horizontal surfaces of living/dining room.

Clean/purge coat closet.

Self clean cycle of washing machine.

Deeeeeep clean kitchen and get rid of some items I haven’t used in 2+ years.

I'm just dealing with clutter today. My basement still looks like we have elementary aged kids, but they are 15 and 17. Time for everything to go.

I like to come into the new year clean but what I didn’t get to yesterday was:
Cleaning/purging the shoe rack
Moping the mud room
Dusting and sorting my desk (probably a lost cause until the kids are back in school)

I have been looking in Amazon trying to figure out what to buy to make cleaning easier. Anyone have any suggestions? So far I have looked at
Dremmel electric cordless cleaning brush
Bissell steam cleaner mop

While my young adult children were visiting, I made them go thru the gaming and movie DVDs. Take what you want or I will donate. These tasks are endless.

Wow, you can get through all that in a day?

Look at a bowlfulloflemons.net. The site has a great cleaning challenge that lays it all out for you.

I'm just hoping to go through the filing cabinet and do some shredding.

Op here.
Have done everything except the bathroom, which I will do this evening or tomorrow, and the coat closet which I may put off until a day when I can make a donation run.

In one day? I was thinking of taking a week off of work to deep clean (I have a lot of unused PTO and I love cleaning when the house is empty) and I'm still not sure I'd get through all of that, deep clean the whole kitchen? I'm super impressed.

Scrubbed the grease off my hood vent filters. They were nasty!

I’m seriously jealous. I tried taking down the Christmas decorations while my 15mo, 4 and 5 year olds screamed and made more mess in other rooms. I remember my child free days when I could clean and enjoy myself. It’s just so darn hard now. And the baby only napped 15 min today.

Question: The carpet is noticeably darker near the baseboards where the carpet cleaner doesn’t reach due to its design. Does anyone have suggestions? Will carpet spray foam work if the vacuum cleaner also doesn’t reach the area by the baseboard? Ore there extra small carpet cleaners out there? I’m fine with trying to clean it with a brush by hand — but worry that if I can’t follow with a power rinsing or power drying that it might create other problems if the carpet shampoo isn’t thoroughly removed.

I plan to do a major clean out throughout the month of January. Then I’ll follow up with clearing more things out and doing donations during Lent.
Purging my closets will take at least a day EACH.

I mean, my house is probably a lot smaller than yours! But yeah I put on gym clothes put on a podcast and work like I’m at work on a cleaning crew. Like I’m sweating by the end. I used to even wear knee pads but I can’t find mine now.
