Picked up a tray of sausage and peppers on Christmas Eve from the Italian store on Friday. It’s Tuesday. Would you eat them tonight?

I ask my husband to taste anything questionable and then go with his verdict. He usually says it’s ok. He’s never steered me wrong so far. I’ll have to remember that he performs this invaluable service the next I’m irritated that he’s not doing his share around the house.

Considering I'm finishing off the leftover from Christmas Eve for lunch today, I'd do it. Food that's been properly prepared and stored lasts longer than people e think.

Yes, but I wouldn’t eat it any later than tonight. I’m paranoid about food safety and would definitely enjoy it tonight.

Neither one of those is especially perishable. I'd probably take a tiny taste of the sausage and toss if it's even a little bit off. I don't think it's been long enough to make you sick.

My original post was wrong. I got it Saturday. We ate it and so far so good.
