If someone stole your package will company replace?

I had a package from adidas delivered this morning. My delivery people leave packages in my fenced back yard. I came outside just now and see the empty box laying on the sidewalk down the street from my house. 🤬 Will Adidas send me the item again or am I SOL?

Why on earth should Adidas send you a replacement item?

As a business owner no I do not replace a stolen package. I have fulfilled my duty and packaged and shipped it to you. Once the carrier drops it off it is your responsibility to make sure you are there to receive it or have it delivered to a secure location.

I've only had less then 5 people in my 4 years of business have a package stolen after delivery and 1 that was understanding when I said I wouldn't replace or refund them.

Nope, you need to get a lock box to put on your porch (or in your backyard if that’s where they usually deliver). They will put it in and then lock it and you are the one with a key to get it out.

And file a police report. Your neighbors may have footage.

If the package was actually delivered (to the right address), they generally won't. If it was misdelivered or there's no proof of delivery, they generally will.

I didn’t ask if they should, I asked if they would. I’ve had this happen with an amazon purchase and they replaced the item. Wasn’t sure what Adidas would do.

It was to the correct address, my neighbor’s camera caught the whole thing.

That’s the infuriating part, I was home. They didn’t ring my bell.

Was it UPS, Fedex? You could make a case with them.

It says it was delivered by Laser Ship.

I wouldn't tell them you found the box opened down the street. Just contact customer support and tell them tracking says the package was delivered but you didn't receive it.

I've found if you go that route, the company will always ship out a replacement.

Welp, that'll help you even more with getting a replacement from Adidas. Everyone in retail knows that Laser Ship is the worst of the worst. Their drivers are so freaking lazy!!

Amazon will replace once, not every time.

If they left the package in your fenced backyard then you have a bigger issue than your package being stolen. the issue is you have people going into your fenced backyard without you knowing or even realizing that they're. I would consider that very unsafe and recommend you get a camera or a security system.

In general, large retailers will replace if the item is lost in transit. They will usually file an insurance claim with the shipper's insurance to reclaim costs as appropriate.

However, nowadays, most shippers are taking photos of delivered items on mobile devices. If they have a photo of the item delivered to your address/home, then neither the vendor, nor the shipper are responsible any more. The recipient is responsible for the security of the shipped item after delivery.

If you have a problem with neighborhood thieves, then you need to find somewhere other than your home to ship items to. You can get use a friend's home, a work address or pay for a PO Box, UPS Store or similar delivery location to have shipments delivery securely. If you are going to continue to receive deliveries at home, like another PP said, you should get a webcam for your back door where shippers will leave packages so that you can provide footage to the police when filing a police report. If you can provide video, they might be able to catch the thieves and make your neighborhood a little safer.
