Well there's some actual accountability. The officers should not have been chasing him like that and they knew it. Karon already paid the price for his bad moves, now the officers will pay for their part.

As far as I can tell, the current politics of DC are that traffic violence is bad and also efforts to actively enforce traffic laws are also bad.

The current politics of DC are that it's bad when police officers violate police procedures by first engaging in an inappropriate high-speed chase that endangers the public, then also engaging in a cover-up. I agree with this position.

There is a big difference between appropriately enforcing traffic laws and harassing young black men in ways that endanger their lives and the lives of people around them.

Who protects the innocent people who are harassed by the man driving down a sidewalk? We need to just wait until he injures or kills someone himself before we can do anything?

He wasn't harassing anyone. Reaction has to be commensurate with the crime, which on this case had little to do with it given that MPD doesn't give a crap about people driving far more dangerous cars like maniacs. They just wanted to hassle this guy like they always did.

More like young black men harassing and assaulting police officers.

I'm surprised he was convicted of second degree murder since Karon contributed in a big way to his own death.

After you are dead, the assailant will receive a photo enforcement ticket. They don’t care if he kills people on sidewalks because those are pedestrians. The reaction would have been different if he was threatening to injure anyone on a bicycle with his actions.

This is why you don't get involved no matter what you see some maniac doing to someone else on the metro. You'll never get a fair trial.

Who said he was threatening anyone? You're just making that up and I think I know why.

What he was doing was similar to people on their phones while driving, turning through a red no turn arrow, or speeding. I'm not asking the city to kill those people.

It’s been a long standing procedure nationwide that if you engage in a chase of petty crime you are going to have a high probability of killing a citizen.

This is not just a DC thing.

Cops can prosecute crimes without a chase by doing investigations. It’s not that complicated.

Who indeed? Certainly not police who engage in dangerous high-speed chases in violation of well-established police procedures.
