I realize this post is speculative and none of my business but I grew up with Britney Spears (same-age-wise) and I am just so genuinely curious about what plagues her and how it has gotten to this sad, public, unhinged place (her IG, and presumably, her life).
What do you think is actually going on with her? And do you think the public will ever find out? This article and her social media this week is what got me wondering again: https://www.newsweek.com/britney-spears-perez-hilton-missing-instagram-absence-1768370 |
| For what it's worth, Perez Hilton built his career on exploiting and trashing Spears. He's also seeking attention. |

I think she never matured past the age of 16. And then she just stopped. She was abused and taken advantage of and forced to make money for a lot of people.
Everyone thought getting her free would help. But really now she’s just free to be a mess on Instagram. |
No, I think everyone thought getting her free would be just. Now she can be a mess on instagram just like anybody else can. |
| I feel so bad for her. She still needs help. |
| Everything adds up to severe mental illness. The timing of her breakdown could indicate bi polar or schizophrenia. There is also a condition (can't recall the name) where a mentally ill person does not believe they are mentally ill, which makes treatment very difficult. I have a soft spot for her and I hope she'll be okay. |
Yeah, I think this arrested development theory about sums it up. She has the freedom of an adult, the money of a celebrity, but the maturity of a rebellious teen. |
and married to a super creepy guy. |
That is pretty much every mental illness. That is why treatment compliance is so difficult. |
I think it’s more like denial is a common among all humans, mentally ill or not. Plenty of mentally ill people acknowledge it. |
I just viewed her IG this week and it was like a car wreck you cant look away from because you are frozen in disbelief. There is no coherent thought process or brand and her eyes are always void. It looks like she purposefully blinks to look real versus blinking because its an involuntary reaction. |

I think she's bipolar. Maybe triggered during her postpartum time period (which isn't uncommon). Now she's unmedicated.
Many with bipolar or schizo-effective disorders do not believe they are ill, or recognize their behaviors are out of the norm, it's called anosognosia. It can be very difficult to get an adult to comply with medication regimen, and now that's she's "free", nearly impossible. https://www.treatmentadvocacycenter.org/key-issues/anosognosia#:~:text=Anosognosia%2C%20also%20called%20%22lack%20of,or%20do%20not%20seek%20treatment. |
Anosognosia. It is estimated that 40% of bipolar and 50% of schizophrenics have this. |
This is what I wanted. Sure, her insta is more like that of a teen with 20 followers rather than a professional "brand" influencer account but I don't really think less of her for it. It's sure authentic! I hope she's able to work through all her residual trauma and mental health challenges for sure, and then maybe she can figure out a bit more about engaging with the world a full adult, something she's really never had the opportunity to do. |
| She’s seriously unwell and also not very intelligent, which makes for a lot of bad decisions and no self-awareness. she needs help, but likely can’t separate legit help from being forced to be a cash cow with no personal autonomy. It’s really sad. |
