Best nutrition tracking app ideally free!

Anonymous
I'd like recommendations on nutrition tracking apps. I currently do not track what I eat at all and have no idea how many calories I consume or the percentages of macronutrients. Those would be my two main goals: total calories consumed and percentages for fat/protein/carbs.

I'm cheap so I would prefer free!

Thanks.

(I did search for this topic with no luck so please redirect me if necessary.)

LoseIt! Is a great app. I thinks it’s cheap for a lifetime subscription.

Just get My Fitness Pal.

My Plate. Free, and easy. And the free version tells you calories, and percentage of fats, protein, carbs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm trying My Plate for now. It won't be exact because it might be hard for me to estimate the sprinkling of raisins on my oatmeal, etc. (things that aren't a serving size), but I think this will give me an idea. With just one day down, I'm surprised to learn that my protein percentage is lower than fat. I knew my carb intake would be the highest, but I thought it would be carb, protein, then fat.

It's easy to adjust your serving size on My Plate. I run into this when I sprinkle almonds or walnuts on my yogurt. I usually end up saying 1/4 of 1 serving - which is already a small amount. Better to overestimate in this case, especially if you're counting calories.

I use fatsecret

I like Cronometer. The no-fee version has everything I need—tracks calories, carbs/fats/proteins, plus individual nutrients.

I've been using the free version of Noom

Chronometer is hands down the best. It has most of the things that MFP puts behind their paywall, too.

I like My fitness pal. They recently starting making you pay for premium if you want scanner feature, but I don't pay for it or care that much about that feature.

I did try lose it when i thought I would have to start paying for MFP and I was not a huge fan. I didn't like that you could only log food for the next day if you paid for premium. In MFP this is still free.

Not to be the Chronometer booster, but that app allows scanning and logging in the future AND provides super detailed nutrient breakdowns, all for free.

Cronometer ? Wish Apple would make part of its fitness plan

NP- am curious why you would log food before eating it?
