Anticipated Reads for 2023

Anonymous
Are there any books that you have had on your waiting list for whatever reason (on hold in the library, not published yet, reading other things, etc) that you anticipate and are looking forward to reading in 2023?

1. I just got an alert that the DC Library got a book I want to read on Chuck Berry.
2. There's also a book by Jeffrey Stewart coming out in January that I want to read. I have read some of his previous work and really liked it so I'm going mainly on faith, but the book will be centered on Mae Miller Sullivan's work.
3. I need to find more work on Charlie Parker. I have been told a few books that are good but to my knowledge he didn't write an autobiography.
4. What is the What - This book has been sitting on my bookshelf for years and I think I am finally ready to read it

What about you? What are you looking into reading?

“For You and Only You,” fourth book in the You/Joe Goldberg series by Caroline Kepnes; I think it comes out in April

Waxing On: The Karate Kid and Me looks like a good read although it sounds more like a written podcast / interview than a detailed story, but will be interesting to read about the stories that made up that movie.

OMG yes, the John Connolly follow up to this The Book of Lost Things. The new one should be here in the US in Sept 2023 and it's a kind of prequel to it, The Land of Lost Things.

He's mostly known for his Charlie Parker detective series books, which run to something like 26 books now, but I'm not into those.

The cross-over Adult / YA books though are wonderful.

I am embarrassed to say… “Spare” by Prince Harry. It will be awhile though because I will borrow from the library.

I usually go crazy waiting for new Anthony Horowitz books in the Magpie Murder series (not the ones he writes for kids or the Sherlock / Bond ones) but the quality has really fallen off recently and his last one, The Twist of the Knife was just not funny, not exciting and was riddled with errors (editorial inaccuracies) that were distracting and disappointing.

I loved “What is the What,” OP! It’s one of my all time favorites.

I'm curious, have you read her other books? I couldn't finish Flights after I found out that the chapters have no connection between them.

Really, I thought about putting this in the other thread about books others like but I didn't. When I was reading it initially I think I was sold it as a fantasy and I didn't see that aspect. Once I learned (more of) what it was about, I wasn't interested in it (then). Now I think I'm ready to dive into more adult reads.

I mostly read books on my Kindle, but for the You series, it's absolutely an audible book for me. The books are read by Penn Badgley (Joe Goldberg). I can't listen to them fast enough.
