| IVF isn’t an option, need to switch doctors. Live in Montgomery County work in DC. I always hear about Shady Grove, Columbia, and Dominion. Are there any other options? Does it need to be a fertility office or do OBGYNs do IUIs? |
|
I'm not sure how good it is compared to a doctor but mamas midwives does at home.
Are you doing the iui bc you need donor sperm or because of fertility issues? |
Male factor infertility, but used clomid and need to be monitored so probably can’t do at home. |
You probably know this but IUI has low likelihood of success in true diagnosed male-factor infertility. I’d find the cheapest person you can in this situation. |
Yeah, we are also probably out of insurance coverage if not now than after the next one. We had success after two rounds for the first kid, but do know statistically it’s not great. But it’s better than nothing and all we have available to us. |

The key is the sample has to be “washed” in an appropriate laboratory, but you likely knew that. Have you checked out fair oaks fertility?
Avoid JHU at all costs. And an easy boost: explore every possible enhancement for him (vitamins, hydration, abstinence, exercise, avoid biking and hot tubs, etc. lots of small but possibly meaningful details). |
Has he seen a urologist? Varicocele surgery cleared up everything for us. Should be covered by insurance. |
Who told you to do iui with male factor? I’d find a new doctor. Sorry. |
What would you suggest if not IUI? The whole point of the post was looking for a new doctor, so thanks for the advice there. |
Varicocele would seem to be the best bet here. It’s commonly done and probably covered. Plus if it doesn’t work the first time, they can do it to him again after 4 to 6 months. |
What semen issues would be fixed by this surgery? I think our problem is morphology if I remember correctly. |
This is going to sound snarky but I don’t mean it that way. You need to see an actual RE and not just someone “who will do an IUI” if you want your best chance at getting pregnant. It’s clear there’s a lot you don’t know yet about TTC and infertility. |
I’ve been seeing an actual RE. I had one successful IUI and we are trying for a second. The office has shown incredible incompetence and because I do actually know about TTC and infertility, I know that the office is not my best chance at getting pregnant. Hence looking for other options. But thanks for discrediting everything because I failed to remember the results of a semen analysis from four years ago. |

Are there known specialists who successfully treat morphology?
Any known clinical trials (maybe at NIH) going on at this time? |
| GW does it |
