Is there a good "from DC" food gift that I can bring to friends in NY?

Anonymous
Heading to upstate NY to stay with friends over break and would love to gift them a basket or bag of really special food items to thank them for their hospitality. All I can think of is checking to see if Chaia sells their sauces in bottles - I think that's the kind of thing they'd like. Are there good items from DC that might be welcome?

Are they beer drinkers? Buy from a brewer in DC like City-State or DC Brau.

Do they drink? Would they be interested in Italian style aperitivi? Don Ciccio & Figli makes some great ones, made locally in DC. You can sample before buying at their Ivy City location.

If you're buying beer, Blue Jacket is much better than DC Brau or City State. If they drink, Green Hat makes pretty good gin
