| Yikes - just got a letter that Dr. F is leaving GW fertility clinic at the end of December?!?! I adore him and so sad he’s leaving (hope it’s retirement - it would be very well well-deserved!). But anyone heard any background on this? Also I’ve only encountered the new doctor, Dr. H (who I think is the only one currently left) once and while he seemed very kind and knowledgeable, was hoping someone’s worked with him more extensively and maybe can give personal insight into the process with him. I know doctors move on, but it’s always nerve wracking, especially in this realm! |
| Oh wow, that's huge. He is great. Seems like a lot of doctors have left over the last few years. |
| Anyone know anything? He's amazing. I hope it's a well deserved retirement. |
I was a patient there at GW at the end of 2017. At that time they had 4 doctors. Once Dr. F leaves, all 4 of them will have left the practice - and they have only added 1 new doctor in that time. |

I just heard 2nd hand that Dr. F is leaving to go to Yale because he couldn't reach some sort of agreement (I assume this would be contractual?) with MFA. Did anyone else hear that?
I wonder how long MFA will operate with only 1 RE and/or if they will eventually wind up closing their fertility clinic. |
| I heard the same - that Dr. Frankfurter was leaving for Yale/Connecticut, although the reasons why were a bit shrouded. Given he pretty much founded and created the GW program, I admit I’m also concerned if the program will last without him. Definitely a concerning time with only 1 RE onboard - and if they lost Dr. F, I’m also wondering how they are going to attract new talent. |
| A big loss. GW mfa is losing a great doctor. |
| Will other centers accept gw embryos? |
Depends on each clinic’s policies. |
| Had a follow up with him in early December (the day after I got the letter). He told me he's going back to New Haven, CT to practice there. Totally bummed. He's a great doctor and I wanted to continue with him as we finally transferred all the day 3 embryos we banked. Not really sure about Dr. H yet. That clinic has now lost 3 doctors in the last two years. Wonder what's been going on and what the future holds. Particularly with Dr. F gone. |
Are people sticking with gw? I'm nervous about staying there when my embryos are older than the Dr has been practicing. |
|
we are looking into transferring our two remaining frozen embryos now that our ivf baby is almost 3. went to the website to see which docs are still there and was really surprised to see only one person listed on their website! came here to see if that was true, and it seems like, in fact, only one doc is there.
my previous doc was dr humm, who's moved to SGF. anyone know about the process of transferring embryos from GW to SG? |
| We are in the same boat as the PP. Strongly considering transferring to SG to follow Dr. Humm but had already started a protocol when Dr. F announced was leaving. Now just not sure what going to do. Hope someone posts about their experience with the new doc or about experience in transferring embryos to SG!! |

over 10 years ago I posted an OP that Dr. F saved my life! what a huge loss
(another fertility clinic routinely aspirated funky follicles. he did not and it was ovarian cancer). God bless him and the lucky people who hired him. Big loss for GW/MFA. |
| What is everyone doing now? Seeing the new doctor? I need to start prep for my next cycle but I don’t know if my nurse is going to tell me I have to start over with the new doctor. |
