Venting about mother

Anonymous
My mom is fantastic. But she has this one thing that she does where if Iโ€™m annoyed at her, she is sad all day and rude to other family members because Iโ€™m upset. And she and my dad work full time and are 50+. She gets home and is tired and sits on the couch doesnt say a peep.
When my dad does the same thing she gets mad that heโ€™s always dozing off when he sits in the living room. And she gets mad that he doesnt talk. But she doesnt talk either? Wtf . On the weekends shes happy as can be and has a lot of energy . Understandable right? But why does she get mad at my dad for also being tired. Like hello this is most households. In general

Im the daughter (teens) and i always go defending people in the house, my mom calls me the diplomat or the attorney. Im 100% fair trust me.

Shes a great person trust me but im never sad anymore because i know that it will make her be indifferent all day and that will lead to other fam members being upset.

Jesus christ. And im focusing on her only flaw its just 5% of her and we all have flaws but this is just disgusting. I dont know what she thinks goes on at other peoples houses who work full time and are 50+. People are tired. And she says shes not mad that dad is tired she gets mad when hes fallling asleep on the couch.

I think you are taking on a problem that is not your problem and should butt out. Your dad is a grown man who chooses and fights his own battles. He doesn't need his teenage daughter's help. That's emasculating.

I get that you're a teenager. But this isn't something you need to deal with. Your dad is an adult and can stand up for himself or not on his own. He doesn't need you intervening. Your best bet is to remove yourself from the situation. When your mom is being irritable or nagging your dad, walk away.

You literally go to your room and close the door. You go to a different part of the house. Go walk the dog. Go for a run around the block. Go rake the leaves. WALK AWAY.

Yes, you can. Its not your job to police how other people behave. Again, if your dad wanted to do something about it, he would. He's not a helpless peer or younger sibling you need to defend. He's a grown adult who has figured out a way to deal with it. My bet is he ignores because its not worth making your mom upset.

Look, I get it. I grew up with a mom who could be difficult. But sometimes deescalation is the best way to deal with it. Just walk out of the room.

And that's her problem. Not yours.

1. Why wouldn't you just say good night to her if you can tell that's important to her?
2. Her illogical reactions to your words and actions are not your responsibility. Adults are responsible for their behavior.
3. You're jumping the shark with the bolded. Simmer down, now.

Im not the party type but 4real i get why kids drink and do drugs. With the amount of emotions im feeling, if i was exposed to alcohol or drugs iโ€™d do it to escape my feelings
