Official Brett Kavanaugh Thread, Part 3

Kavanaugh is clearly scared to death of an FBI investigation. I wonder if he will withdraw citing stress on his family.

They didn’t harass him!!! We still live in a world where we can speak to our elected officials!! Giving your opinion to an elected official is actually a part of the franchise of democracy!

You must be joking. This woman and her minions got up in Flake's face, *screaming* at him. They absolutely harassed him and I can't believe people like that are allowed in the building, much less allowed to approach lawmakers in that way. Plenty of guards were just standing around and no one pulled her away from Flake. What a lunatic. If she wanted to "speak" to her elected officials, she should have done so respectfully. But she didn't even come close.

Did Kavanaugh speak to elected representatives respectfully yesterday? Nope.

#TimesUp

Brett is really crying now.

At a minimum I think we can assume that he will refute BK's claim of never drinking too much.

What's too much? He said he drank and got drunk. He said he was never blackout drunk. How can anyone prove that? They can't.

If Judge (or any other friend from that era) says he's seen Kavanaugh blackout drunk, that's a game changer IMO.

Define blackout drunk? How does one determine that?

It's when you don't recall, the next day, what happened or what you did the night before.

How do you prove that about someone else?

because other people DO recall what you did

And by her I mean the friend whom Dr. Ford supppsedly left behind to fend for herself as the lone girl in a house full of would-be rapists as she fled the scene!!!
At a minimum, shouldn’t the friend be pretty pissed off that—if Dr. Ford’s account is correct—she literally left her friend in danger on the night of the alleged event. And didn’t warn her any time afterward to stay away from these predatory creeps? Wow. Not much of a friend.

Nope. A woman who feels she is under attack and risk of being raped and killed runs off into the night without a ride home, without her friend. Real safe.

That’s what trauma does to a brain.

He couldn't pass kindergarten at this point, no way he would pass a polygraph.

I'm scared to live in a world where we will believe something just because someone says it (whether you believe Ford or Bk). There is literally no proof in either direction. No witnesses really saying anything substantial on either side.

But regardless half are believing one side and the other half are believing the other side. With literally no proof. Am I the only one who finds this terrifying?

You've never been in court before, I'm guessing.

Rarely is there direct evidence. Cases are almost always decided on circumstantial evidence. In this instance, the general consensus is that Prof. Ford did not have a motivation to lie, there was some evidence that she mentioned the event well before his nomination, and you got to see her demeanor while testifying. Judge Kavanaugh has a motive to lie, you saw his demeanor at the hearing and on Fox News, and how he answered questions about what he was like in prep. School vs. the picture depicted in his yearbook.

No motive to lie except that LYING WILL DETERMIE THE BALANCE OF THE SCOTUS FOR DECADES. Other than that, no motive.

Then why did she bring it up first BEFORE he was nominated? Which would have enabled the WH to nominate someone else?

There is additional evidence not listed above. There are the 4 statements of people who allegedly were there - all denying knowledge of the gathering; 1 stating she did not know Kavanaugh. We also have the calendar entries from Kavanaugh.
And, I might add, the first time Ford mentioned the name Kavanaugh to anyone was in 2012 - the same year Kavanaugh’s name was on a short list in the event Romney won the presidency. I am disappointed this was not brought up in questioning yesterday.

Please kavanaugh's alternative reality of those statements is not the facts. The statements said they didn't remember the gathering. No statement said she did not know kavanaugh and those statements were not any kind of evidence since they weren't sworn statements by the people themselves. Kavanaugh knew but pressed forward with talking points over and over because he was spinning an alternate version of the facts.

Where on God’s green earth do you get your information?
You’ve heard the saying... better to stay quiet and let others ASSUME your ignorance than to open your mouth (or device) and remove all doubt.
First of all... I said they claimed to have no knowledge of such a gathering. FACT
Secondly... She did say she did not know Kavanaugh. Here is her statement from a source that I am sure meets with your approval:
"Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford," said Howard Walsh, who said he has been "engaged in the limited capacity" of corresponding with the committee on behalf of Keyser.

And, these statements carry the same penalty as a sworn statement.

Also doesn’t deny ever seeing BK grope anyone. Isn’t that the allegation? That he saw Bk assault CBF?

So what you are saying is that Judge definitely saw Kavanaugh grope Ford, right?

PP here. I’m not saying that. I’m wondering what others think about that omission. It is possible for people to have honest questions on here! I should know because I have lots of them haha

The problem is these aren't honest questions. It's salacious speculation. A statement by Judge was delivered, penalty being felony for lying. He signed it. That's not good enough for liberals.

Sorry I’m seeing that maybe I didn’t phrase my initial question clearly. I’m wondering why Judge basically neglected to address the allegation that Ford made. She said that judge saw what BK did and Judge didn’t mention whether he saw or didn’t see Bk do anything. Why wouldn’t he address that specifically

If he doesn't remember the party in question, then what Ford says happened, didn't. Because there was NO PARTY like that he remembers being at. What you want is: "I don't remember the party in question but I definitely remember myself and Kavanaugh pushing her into a bedroom and almost raping her in a party that did not exist"

I don't like fox news but this article is interesting

So maybe a polygraph is more helpful if you're using it to see how someone responds to a particular question.

Asking the murderer who knows he murdered someone with an usual weapon:

Did you kill her with a gun? (No response)
Did you kill her with a knife? (No response)
Did you kill her with a banana? (Off the charts!)

Is that how they are supposed to be used?

I suppose it could also see if she has some response to being asked if she made anything up, but maybe that's not how a polygraph is supposed to work

There is zero change Judge is going to admit to any kind of assault or attempted assault. What he *might* MIGHT admit to is a level of drinking that Brett has denied.

He has written extensively (2 books!) about how much he partied in high school. He has told his gf that he and someone else had sex with a woman who was too drunk to consent and that he felt guilty about it, but didn't really consider it rape either. I think he said very specifically what he could say truthfully and not one bit more. HE also could have implicated himself - it is better for him to say NOTHING than to either lie or implicate himself.

If Kavanaugh takes a polygraph then so should Ford. NOT one administered by her lawyer either.

If you accused ME of doing what he’s been accused of doing...and then I had to sit down in front of a room full of people who had just finished telling my accuser “I believe you” without hearing me emphatically deny the accusations first, I think “respectful” would be a pretty difficult time for me to strike.
