Top 5 acceptances: Vassar Grinnell Haverford Denison Union College |
Union! |
I would say RPI unless there is something that UConn or WPI has that they specifically think would help them thrive in college. Like if they felt project based learning and 7 week quarters would be a better fit then pick WPI. Or if they wanted the flexibility to change to non-STEM major or take more non-STEM classes or have the big school spirit and sports experience then pick Uconn. |
Haverford — amazing school |
From 2008 to 2022, 20 Davidson undergraduates earned Economics PhDs to 39 for W&M and 53 for UVA. Davidson has 2,000 undergraduates compared to 6,800 at W&M and 17,500 at UVA. Davidson is over 3X as productive as UVA on a per capita basis. |
True. Exam focused. But Cambridge doesn’t take an American ‘anyone’ for undergrad so thinking if student got in, they can handle. Cambridge has their Achilles though - not above admitting a Winklevoss at the Masters level to boost Henley -Thames time. |
You realize this is not a plus, right? |
Not for CS. Union or bust. |
Grinnell is amazing |
Union is one of the best LACs for STEM. |

My smart, friendly, independent, Jewish, but not super religious, Washingtonian who excels at history is interested in Poli-sci/IR.
Still deciding and hoping that someone has a little pearl of wisdom to share? Cost is approximately the same for all Macalester Pitt Oberlin Wisconsin |

Macalester! |
Oberlin |
Sorry I should’ve explained why…it’s because I live in and love the twin cities and think it would be a good place to go to college. Madison would be great too if your kid prefers a bigger school. I personally prefer smaller so I’d pick macalester. Don’t really know Pitt or Oberlin so can’t comment on those. Oh also Macalester has a strong Jewish organization if your kid is interested. I think the school is 6-7% Jewish which is pretty large for a SLAC. |
