The balance of power in the area is shifting to the big Catholics. They have several advantages that see continued success: 1) Cost (with Prep being the exception compared to GZ, SJC, etc.) - High school and college continue to skyrocket in costs, and great players can go to great schools without being at the more expensive privates. 2) No middle school; they can get who they want for ninth grade. It used to be an advantage for Landon to have their middle school and have a pipeline from a narrow player pool. The modern landscape with so many players rewards having more choice in building your classes. 3) One sports athletes (even Prep has way more than they used to) - more lacrosse players are really year-round lacrosse players. 4) Broader admission flexibility; they can get more kids in. 5) Coaches with narrower responsibilities. The teacher/coach model is increasingly harder to pull off with teaching and coaching both become more work and more specialized. For example, Landon people speak incredibly highly of the HC who followed Bordley and he walked away from his alma mater, apparently because of the overall work environment, not lacrosse. With so many more youth players, the above factors come together to setup better for the bigger, cheaper schools with more emphasis on the sport coaching. |
| Can you recap what happened with the Landon alumn coach who walked away? |
He took a new job. Old news. Landon dads making excuses. |
| SJC JV played GP JV this week. SJC won. |
Why, though? Seems like the perfect for from an outsiders POV. |
News Flash - JV isn’t Varsity. 🙄 |
Speaks volumes that Preps JV scheduled SJC but Varsity didn’t. 😂 They knew. |
No one cares about JV games. Move on. |
|
Preps JV has historically been bad the past few years as many of their top freshman are pulled up to varsisty
Glad SJCs JV beat Preps JVs, but that is not saying too much. Now let’s get a varsity game between the Cadets and Lil Hoyas. I don’t think Prep is afraid of SJC after watching them hardly beat Bullis last week. |
100%. Everyone accept the SJC boosters know Prep would beat SJC this year. |
Not gonna see them play this year in all likelihood, unless a last minute IAC/WCAC DC city championship is thrown together. There would be an appetite for it. |
Especially, after Bullis lost to STA and Prep beat STA 15-5. |
come on Cabbell... please sponsor a matchup between IAC and WCAC champions. The area needs it! |
Simple question. Why didn’t they want to play like they have every year? They scheduled Ryken? Come on |
They play Ryken every year. |
