Dead bear cubs. Pet ravens. Conspiracy theories. " Your wanna see me take off my shirt?"

RK junior is underwhelming. He's s a nepo baby who continues to trade off his name, but hasn't done anything substantive that would give him attention except for his nepo baby status. Also, anti-vaxxer, roadkill collector, dead bear dumper is just a wierd set of views/actions that kind of make him irrelevant from consideration to run a suburb or subdivision, much less a country.

Don't forget the brainworms.

And our new friend the beheaded dead whale

In case anyone is as baffled by the whale references as I was: there was a dead whale on the shore and RFK went and got a chainsaw and cut the head off, then tied it to the roof of the car and drove it home, five hours away.

He and his Brahmin wife do not associate with people beneath them. They avoid lower caliber people at all costs. They refuse to life and raise their kids in Ohio because they are coastal elitists who only wanna hobnob with wealthy coastal peers.

I'm curious to know more about him, his wife and caste. I take his wife is from the highest caste? How does this play out in the US? Is it easy to tell how she would be likely to act? Is it typical for upper caste Indians to act out these prejudices in the US?

I can’t stand Vance, his wife, or MAGA, but this conversation is just as racist as they are. I actually agree that they both clearly to have contempt for/look down on poor and uneducated Americans, but that’s because of their education and current social circles. Not her “caste”. Usha Vance is an American with Indian heritage. Attributing any of her behavior to her family’s caste in India, with zero evidence for it, is racism.

I’m an Indian-American. It is not racism, it is a fact. If anything, PP is underselling how much Brahmins and their spouses despise lower class persons.

He is an Ohio bumpkin who was backdoored into YLS. Nothing in his memoir about his test scores because he’s a low watt fraud.

Vance should be living in Ohio!

Are you talking about the Covid shutdown?

Ye,s this is the reason he has issues when out in public.

What?! He's 39 years old. The pandemic was a blip in his life. Please.

And our new friend the beheaded dead whale

I just re-read an article in Vanity Fair about RFK's kids from 1997. (The same year his brother Michael had a scandal with his nanny; he died at the end of the year).

His sister Courtney talks about nice memories with different siblings. One of her examples is that she and Bobby Jr skinned dead rats together! He is REALLY into dead animals.

Frankly, if an adult who was 35 years old and a parent of four at the start of the pandemic, is having communication issues as a result of the pandemic, they should not be running for a high stress job like the VPOTUS. They should be in therapy and working on treating their condition.

The fact that we have 45% of the country so brainwashed that they are willing to elect a geriatric candidate who is showing signs of age-related decline as the primary commander in chief with access to our nuclear codes, is scary. And they also want to select a candidate in the second slot of the ticket who is an adult with post-pandemic anxiety as the secondary backup commander in chief with access to our nuclear codes, is terrible.

We need to have mentally stable and cognizant candidates for these offices and this line of argument is essentially verifying that the Republican ticket is neither.

But he's quite ambitious and made the political calculus a while ago that the National Review brand of conservatism was not a viable path for his political fortunes. He can be thoughtful and nuanced (and some of his writings reflect this, even if you do not agree with him), but nobody is buying that these days, especially with the specter of Trumpism looming. He's had to walk back a number of his anti-Trump opinions in order to try to carve out a niche. This is the calculus that has been made, but it does not appear to be working.

Look at Asha Rangappa, who was at YLS at the same time as JD and is now a twitter warrior. These things happen when visibility, attention, ambition, scrutiny and brand-building enter the mix.

As evidenced by Ted Cruz at the SCOTUS confirmation hearings recently, you would be surprised (or perhaps not) by the number of esteemed, venerable people who are completely obsessed with their twitter mentions and the concomitant attention high. Sign of the times.

+1 to all of this.

I have to say that I do really wonder about his wife and how she's dealing with this. It would be hard for impossible for me to deal with this. They seemingly moved to Ohio to be close to his roots and to work to "make things better" with your spouse who was moderate right at best. Now the dude is more or less on the Trump. I don't think I could deal.

I also have to wonder what is biracial kids must think, although they are very young so they may not be aware. He gives off very “alpha male” vibes and I am kind of concerned for his wife given his supposed views on working mothers, and that weird statement he made about how your vote should be multiplied by the number of children you have.

Half white half Indian people who are umc are functionally white. They retain probably .01% of Indian attributes.

My half white half Indian children are physically brown. Due to our upbringing they retain a lot of Indian attributes. Functionally white is a misnomer and your entire premise is a stereotype

This is your typical MAGA speaking here...Covid shutdown caused JD Vance(or whatever he's calling himself today) to not be able to talk to people beneath him.
How old was JD when this occured?

That post was sarcasm.

This is so strange to me. I’m Indian American, not a Brahmin, work in the tech sector, and do a lot of hiring. And have tons of family in tech in the US. We’ve never come upon Indian on Indian discrimination of the sort either of you have described. For the most part, no one seems to know or care what anyone’s religion/caste are, and I have had Indian Muslim, Hindu, and Christian coworkers and hires. My mom’s generation describes it happening in India in her youth, but I haven’t seen it here.
