| What does it consist of? Are you happy with it |
| At school? Or at home? At home, none except once a week FaceTime with grandparents. |
| The expectation is 60 minutes a week of Lexia plus ST math. |
| I substituted recently in a first grade classroom and couldn't believe the amount of time the students were scheduled to be on their computers. They all seemed so much happier when we just sat in a group and I read books to them. There is FAR too much reliance on computers in the early grades. |
Maybe the teacher did that because they were out. Doesn’t mean every day is like that. |
Yeah, that’s because the teacher didn’t trust you to teach anything. Don’t take it personally—most sins aren’t professionals. |
It's called a sub plan - they know you don't know what you're doing, so they are trying to make it easier for you. |
| 15-20 minutes a day of either ST Math or Lexia. |
| You can request the Lightspeed Relay Report and figure it out yourself. |
|
Sign up for a report of your child's school computer use at https://fairfax-county.portal.relay.school/. You have to use the same email address that is in the school system, and your DC's student number.
The emailed reports are very top level. Logging in to the site gives much more detail, but it is only for the past 7 days. |
I'm really more concerned about how much print time they're getting. Books cause eyestrain and don't have accessibility features like screens. |
Actually, it does. They knew exactly when to get their computers out. We followed their regular routine - it’s absolutely a huge part of their day. |
See previous post.

DP. I can see why there is a huge lack of subs. No one wants to fill in for aholes. |
Thank you! DD spent an average of 2.25 hours on her computer during school hours. Is that typical? |
