Radon Remediation Contractors

Anonymous
We had our home tested when we purchased the homes years ago. It was below remediation level, but this was in the spring. Fast forward 10 years, and I had a panic attack recently reading about radon. Went to get a radon detector, ran it for a few hours, and found out my house has radon level that are relatively high, moreso in the basement than in the upper floors. Needless to say, I am very worried.

I googled to see what contractors DCUrbanmom recommends. I mostly see the name Radon Abatement Services mentioned. Will be calling around today to get quotes and get this process started. Can you recommend a few more names? Help!

We just used Swat environmental. Our real estate agent recommended them.

I was coming here to search radon remediation as we got our test back today and it showed elevated levels. Any recommendations for VA?

you can go to google map showing your area and type in radon remediation and check each one for reviews.

OP, we used this guy in MD. He was really good and very nice person.

Anyone have experience where you tried to mitigate but the radon levels started climbing up again. How good with the contractors with the warranty of 4pCi/L, and following up with the work?

Any issues with the noise made by system? Any tips/advice appreciated.

The fan i installed in the attic is very quiet. Can't hear anything. I hope your reading is well below 4pCi/L w/ a system in place. Mine is no more than 0.3/0.4 pCi/L long term.

For everyone who has done this, did you all have the tube coming out of the basement up till roof line? Or, is there another way to remediate?

Homes built last 30+ years, most likely have a passive system already (tube coming out of the basement to your roof). if you already have that, installing a fan is super easy. if you don't already have a passive system, then it will be more costly.

Interesting, thanks. Yes, home going on 90 years.
