| Anyone know anything about the school or the type of student body? It was recommended for DS who wants to study Music and Audio Engineering. |
I don't really know much about it except that it is known for it's music connections. Look at their alumni list. |
I'm hoping for more of an idea of what the general feeling on campus is, what the students are like, etc. I know it's a Christian school, but there are varying degrees of that in schools too. |
| Wondering if Middle Tennessee State University is worthy of a look - heard it is a "grammy producer" |
I used to live right next to it, and my MIL went there years ago. From living there, I didn't get the sense that it was super religious. MIL, who is super Christian, didn't find it Christian enough, but YMMV. |
| Pretty campus, lots of rich, assertively Christian students. I believe the lady with the Christian weight loss cult sent her kids there. |
| Friend's DD went there, graduated a couple of years ago and she's now the assistant manager (I think) of a famous recording studio. They are a pretty devout Christian family. |
It's probably a cut above. Their RIM (Recording Industry Management) major is pretty well know. It's not a hard school to get into, but much more difficult to once you're there than you'd think. Or at least it was some years ago. Big school, state U feel. |
Hardly a ringing endorsement of the school. |
| We have friends from California who are not Christian/religious and their son is thriving at Belmont. He is a sophomore, studying music/music engineering. I see lots of pics on FB doing normal college things like going to dinner as a group, going to concerts, hanging out in dorms. They were worried about the religious aspect but talked to lots of other Belmont families via a FB group, and felt pretty confident in the end. And it’s working out! |

Check out reviews on Unigo:
https://www.unigo.com/colleges/belmont-university#Reviews I don't have any personal connection to the school, but I found this one interesting: "For a Christian school, they scram liberal and do their best to pour propaganda and socialistic bullshit down your throat." |
| I know several people who have gone or are currently there, and all are artsy/creative. I haven't asked any about their religious beliefs, but none are "aggressively" Christian. In fact, one is Jewish. |
It was def not meant to be! |
| My cousins went there. They are in their 20s now. They and their family are rich, creatives, and very Christian. |

I'm from Nashville. I will caveat this by saying that I graduated college in the early 90s, so dated info. Belmont was known to be decent for music management (MTSU is actually better, but is a state school with a mandate for acceptance) and the folks that went to Belmont were usually there to avoid going to school with the non-Christian, non-white, non-straight etc. Which is a little comical for anyone looking to go into the music industry. But they are pretty well funded by extreme Christian musicians, so there's that.
It's not well regarded, particularly, in the area outside of a certain group. |
