| I will be hosting a get together the day after Thanksgiving with approx. 12 adults and 6 children. Most attendees will have celebrated with a traditional Thanksgiving meal the day before. What type of food would you feel like eating? This crowd will have two vegetarian women who are very flexible, but it is mostly men with large appetites who prefer typical American foods. Thank you. |
| Doesn’t everyone just eat leftovers the day after thanksgiving? |
| I have the day after too for 12. I ordered slice spiral ham from Honey Baked Ham Co), potato gratin, and will make a pile of crepes and let guest fill with fruit. Coffee and juice. |
| Leftovers. |
| I would make a big pot of chili, some vegetarian soup, and some good crusty bread. On the side, some nice cheese, and some bowls of sour cream, jalapeños. That lets those who want a heartier dinner dig in, with those who want to lighten it up for the day after have that option, too. A nice green salad with some raisins, feta, pine nuts would be nice to go with it. |
This doesn’t sound like a group that all ate dinner together at OP’s house the day before. It would be very weird and kind of gross to serve leftovers at this unrelated event. |
If she‘ll even have enough leftovers to serve 18, that is, which is unlikely. |
| If you’re making the food yourself, I would do lasagna and salad. |
+1 |
| Is this breakfast, lunch, or dinner? |
| Leftovers and the PP’s ham and sides meal (sounds delicious!) would be fine. Typical breakfast/brunch food would work as well. Nobody should have high expectations the day after Thanksgiving. Women understand the work involved and men generally don’t care as long as they’re well fed. Personally, I’d love typical brunch foods or something with fish (bagel and lox spread, smoked trout, etc.). |
| For breakfast we do bagels and bialys, big pot of oatmeal with toppings, scrambled eggs, fruits, lox. |
| Turkey tetrazzini. |

Love the chili and soup idea. Or something like baked ziti.
I wouldn't do ham because the side dish options are too similar to Thanksgiving sides. |
