Not OP but I assume they mean this admission cycle.

I saw someone rejected in another thread recently

Yes, it happens and I also know a kid from last year that was admitted to a different campus than the main one in Pittsburgh.

I think a Pitt rejection looks more like an acceptance with a very small offer of merit aid.

11,500 people were rejected during the last cycle.

I hope you are wrong.

My kid has a 1230 SAT; weighted GPA 3.7 and I hope she gets rejected from Pitt. I think she’ll do better in a smaller school.

You might get your wish with that stat.

Fwiw, my dd started at a smaller school and did not like it. She transferred to Pitt and except for some intro classes for gen ed requirements (Pitt has more than her previous school), most of her classes are small. She knows her professors and often goes to office hours. She has several professors she feels she can ask for references for jobs or eventual grad school applications. Even after one semester last year, she had professors she could get references from. Also, the number of courses available is much different. She was shocked at the number of choices. A large school certainly is not for everyone but she feels Pitt is different. I went to a Big 10 school and Pitt has about half the number of students. Good luck to your dd wherever she goes but if she gets into Pitt, it is worth comparing to other schools.

With the rolling decision, I believe they hold the kids who aren’t clear admits or rejects until later in the process, when the have a handle on the pool.

Students can do all that from any schools though. Is Pitt any different than Big 10 you attended?

Sure but they do flat out reject early in the process as well. There have been rejections already this year.

Applied very late and was WL with 4.0, 1470 SAT (took only once), leadership ECs, and national awards, double digit APs.

Apply early folks.
