Wisconsin closed Nov 5?

Drove down Wisconsin from Bethesda into DC and kept seeing signs that Wisconsin is closing as of Nov 5. Anyone know what’s happening?

Open Streets from Western to Tenley Circle. Should be a lot of fun!

Road is closed from 7am to 2pm. Events are from 9am to 1pm.

It's a Saturday. It is really no big deal, but assuming the weather is nice, a ton of people will be out supporting the businesses and partaking in fun and games in the road.

I don’t see this as too different from the various fun runs — I’m talking to you Rock and Roll Marathon — that shut down huge swaths of the city on a Saturday.

I opened this post wondering why the entire state of Wisconsin was to be closed on 11/5.

Me too. So confused about how an entire state closes!

I will probably wander over, but it may show how desperate we are for more stores/restaurants in FH and Tenley. FH is a wasteland right now.

They did this in Brookland several weeks ago. I wanted to hate it as much as the rest of you cantankerous old grumps but that plan failed. It was fun.

Whatever happened to the GDS vibrant mixed-use development on Wisconsin, dubbed “Harvard Square” by some neighbors?

First off, what local businesses? Please be specific which “local business” along Wisconsin will benefit from customers not being able to access their business via car on a Saturday? I sincerely would like to know.

Second, no there will not be “a ton of people out”.

Shutting down a major thoroughfare so that a couple exercise businesses can offer 4 free classes each to try and rope in new business is hilarious.

Really - that has not been the case at other open streets - thousands of people usually turn out!
