| DS is an athletic recruit, applied ED to a high academic D3, and anticipates receiving a likely letter in the next few days. Should DS wait until the acceptance in December before putting it on social media? |
|
Yes.
|
Scan the likely letter and put it on social media |
OP here. To clarify...I didn't mean the letter specifically...just the "committed" info. |
i'd have him tape it to his forehead. |
| What’s the urgency to out this on social media? |
| Is this a Nescac? |
Tiger Mom is eager to brag to her friends.
|
| Wait. Don’t want to anything that might school mad until formal acceptance |
| Definitely do not put it on social media until it is a sure thing. You never know what can happen. If you need to share the news, share it with someone who won’t blab. Or here where we don’t know you - congrats to your ds! |
OP here. I want DS to wait. DS sees other peer athletes filling social media now with "committed" posts and wants to follow suit. |
OP here. To be honest, I'd prefer that to social media. |
| Good Lord. Have an ounce of self-awareness, and do not post this on social media. |
| Do not share yet. One it annoys people that recruits get such early notice, and two it is not certain. My DS has a friend who's twin brother was recruited. His early prospect fell through. I know his family (except for the sister) was keeping things quiet, I'd just as soon I didn't know the details. |
Every time my kid tells me about someone who posted they committed, I wonder what will happen if they don’t actually get in. It doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. I would tell him to wait. Let him tell close friends if he wants. But why put it out there for the world to see before it’s 100% certain. |
