Where to look for COMFORTABLE family sofa?

Anonymous
I'm looking for something we'll enjoy laying around on while reading, or occasionally watching a movie. So many recommendations seem mostly focused on style. For this one, I just want it to be comfortable and not ugly. I can add pillows to "style" it up enough for our purposes. Thank you for any recommendations!

The most important thing to figure out is the dimensions that will work in your space.

Room and board had a good reputation for this, so does crate and barrel.

The macys radley sectional is popular as well among families and less expensive.

What’s your budget? I’ve had my Lovesac Sactional sofa for 1 year+ and I love it. We use our couch a ton and it’s really comfy and has held up well. I can also wash the remove-able covers if needed, but I’ve only had to spot clean so far.

I love our giant sectional from costco.

If you want a stylish sofa you could look on designers IG pages to see what they have used in family rooms. That’s how I found my highland house sofa. It’s no longer sold.

Maybe start with the highland house IG page.

We really love our Sactional. Yes, it was expensive, but it's absolutely amazing. The thing is crazy sturdy, we've washed a seat cover and side cover and zero issues getting them back on after (no shrinkage). We wanted a sectional that could take the wear and tear of our kids, be used as a spare bed (with the bed set/topper it's quite comfortable), plus in a few years if the stuffing isn't as fluffy we can order a bag and restuff.

Great suggestions and questions. Thank you!

Budget: Well, I don't want to spend more than I need to but we'll use this a lot so I don't 100% know how to approach this. Before posting I had looked at Lovesac and that would be my absolute upper limit. Even that feels like a crazy amount to spend. I've known people with Love Sacs (not the sofas, the beanbag like things) that have held up really well so that gives me confidence in the brand. I went to a store recently to try them out and definitely disliked some of their sofas so I'd need to be careful if I go this route. Probably Love Soft or down fill, but even then the difference between standard depth and deep was pretty significant to me. I want lower back support since I have back issues and I think it was down that I could feel the frame when I leaned back. Yikes!

Size: The current sofa is about 80 inches long. I'd like something bigger and I think our room can handle something a little bigger. I fear a sectional might be too large for the room even though it would be a great size for our family. We have two ES boys who will someday be tall teenagers! The room is 160 inches (just over 13 feet) by 235 inches (19.5 feet), BUT there are walk ways in and out of the room on the long side, so if you stop measuring the long walls at the walk way, the room is 160 inches by 160 inches (13 feet by 13 feet).

Our current set up is actually one sofa on each of the short walls and it kind of feels like we're far away from eachother. Both sofas you can feel the frame if you lean on the arms.

Anyway, I appreciate the suggestions. Thank you!

Do you know what fill and seat depth did you have, and what fabric it is covered with? I've seen some bad reviews for one of the fabrics.
