Early natural pregnancy while in between clinics

Anonymous
Hi everyone, by some miracle I became pregnant naturally while in between clinics - literally has never happened before in our years of trying, and this is after 4 failed IVF retrievals. We did our earlier rounds at SGF, but were just about to start our Hail Mary round at CCRM in Lone Tree.

Because I technically haven't started at CCRM yet other than work-up, I'm kind of in a no-man's land. I can't go to CCRM Nova for early pregnancy monitoring because I'm technically not an established patient at that location, and I am not flying to CO just for monitoring. And, I haven't been to SGF since Jan/Feb. I want to make sure my HCG is rising properly, and hopefully confirm heartbeat in a couple weeks (I've had a few miscarriages so this is all very important for me and my anxiety).

Is it insane to try calling SGF and seeing if they'll let me come back while pregnant? Or do I just wait until my OB will see me? Has anyone been in this situation? I acknowledge I am very lucky and fortunate to be in this spot, and apologies if it is triggering for anyone. For peace of mind, I just really want to make sure everything is tracking but really not sure if/where I could go.

Thank you!

Can your OB prescribe a series of hcg bloodwork?
This is what my OB did for my surprise pregnancy in my 40s before they could do an ultrasound. I was able to see my hcg drop precipitously- and then had a miscarriage.

SGF will probably do your monitoring since you were a patient. Just give them a call.

Ask your ob to do it, given your history. Congrats!

SGF will see you.

This happened to me and I was about to start with dominion. They were so kind and did monitoring for me until I was released when we saw a heartbeat at 5w2d.

SGF will definitely see you. Best wishes!

Wow, OP! Congratulations!

Congrats, OP!
I did betas and a confirmation ultrasound with SGF for my surprise pregnancy, which occurred 6 months after my last failed FET at SGF. They were more than happy to have me come in, and, after my history of loss, it was reassuring to know that i didnt need to wait until I was at least 8 weeks along to get in with an OB. It shouldn't be an issue at all.

OP here - Okay sorry the worry train continues, so the good news is my HCG came back and it's 3014. I'm about 4+5 I think, but SGF says no need to do another blood test, or test for progesterone since in theory, my HCG is rising appropriately if it reached 3000 at this point, and if it's a spontaenous pregnancy then my body is already making the appropriate hormones for pregnancy.

Maybe it's because I've been in this infertility world too long and I'm paranoid based on my last loss (Fresh transfer that didn't develop a heartbeat, my 3rd beta didn't double and I raised concern but was dismissed). For those who had spontaenous pregnancy, did you have multiple betas drawn and/or test your progesterone? Not sure if I should be pushing, or if I just need to relax!!

Thanks all!

I’m the PP from 03:23. My first beta with both my surprise pregnancy and my successful FET was similar to yours at about the same point in time. That’s a great beta! For my surprise pregnancy, I had a second beta drawn per my request (prior loss had been ectopic and I was super nervous), even though RE didn’t think it was necessary. Then they scheduled me for an ultrasound at 6w to confirm intrauterine pregnancy and sent me on my way. My RE didn’t check progesterone and, when I asked about needing to supplement just in case, he told me that they typically didn’t recommend progesterone supplementation for naturally-occurring pregnancies, unless I had a known issue that would require it (which I didn’t). It was so weird not to have to worry about progesterone supplementation after 6 IUIs and multiple FETs!

I was in a similar situation as I was between clinics. My old clinic saw me, did 2 betas and a 6 and 8wk ultrasound before sending me off to an OB.

I would insist on the second beta and US at 6 weeks.

This happened to me and I also got progesterone but I had a history of early losses with low progesterone

Yeah- that’s a really great Beta but I would insist on another draw as well. And a six week u/s. SGF doesn’t test progesterone even with IVF pregnancies, but if you squeak and insist they will measure that as well. Couldn’t hurt to get one progesterone measurement. The thing is there is almost nothing anyone can do at this point. It’s either viable or not.
