I like it but I know a girl with this name and she gets annoyed because a lot of people (especially teachers and classmates) mispronounce it as “Mary Ella” instead of the correct pronunciation (mah-ree-ell-a). I still think it’s pretty but it’s something to consider.
To some degree these issues are hard to avoid. My DD’s name doesn’t get mispronounced but she has a shortened nickname version that kids love to rhyme with random things. They aren’t mean rhymes (for the most part, there was one child in her K class who had some issues and said some unkind stuff but I feel confident that would have happened no matter what my DD’s name was because that child was determined to inflict harm), but DD doesn’t like it.
So this isn’t a reason not to use it, but worth co side ring if this specific issue will bother you. I didn’t see the rhyming nn thing coming.
