A little froofy for me, but intrinsically nothing wrong with it.

Too froofy for me also. Like Gabriella or Isabella. All in the same category to my ear.

So weird to see this post today. I was just listening to the song "Mariella" yesterday and was thinking, in addition to it being a great song and how much I love Leon Bridges, Mariella is a pretty name.

I like it but I know a girl with this name and she gets annoyed because a lot of people (especially teachers and classmates) mispronounce it as “Mary Ella” instead of the correct pronunciation (mah-ree-ell-a). I still think it’s pretty but it’s something to consider.

To some degree these issues are hard to avoid. My DD’s name doesn’t get mispronounced but she has a shortened nickname version that kids love to rhyme with random things. They aren’t mean rhymes (for the most part, there was one child in her K class who had some issues and said some unkind stuff but I feel confident that would have happened no matter what my DD’s name was because that child was determined to inflict harm), but DD doesn’t like it.

So this isn’t a reason not to use it, but worth co side ring if this specific issue will bother you. I didn’t see the rhyming nn thing coming.
