| Every time I go to Costco in Wheaton, I see more and more people bringing dogs. Yesterday I saw a Pomeranian in a cart, a large doodle walking next to cart, and a GSD with a emotional support vest and eating something from the samples. |
| I have never seen a dog in the Fairfax Costco. |
This is a statement. I am assuming you don't like it? |
| It’s not just Costco but everywhere. My friend works at Costco and I asked her about this and they have been instructed not to say anything to anybody about animals. |
| Wait, I can bring my dog into Costco? Seriously? Sweet! I thought it was just Home Depot and Lowe's! This is great! |

This is the guidance for retail food in Virginia.
https://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/pdf/animals-food-beverage-establishments.pdf I run a small business that is focused on food. We recently had a customer who had a service vest on the dog. When the dog pooped in the store, it was pointed out to them and they made no effort to apologize or clean it up. With the various disability laws (what can we ask?) we are put in a bad position. When the big stores turn a blind eye, it makes it hard on all of us. |
| I’ve never seen a dog at the Gaithersburg Costco, but I don’t go frequently. There is a woman who brings her Akita to the King Farm Safeway - have seen her on multiple occasions. No indication that it’s a service dog; just an Akita on a leash. I’ve seen other dogs at Safeway, as well. I wish the store could say something, but I understand the hard spot they are in. |
Sorry, PP. Dog owners are so selfish |
| Nasty! |
| I like to see people with their dogs in stores. It reminds me of France. |
+1. Great news. Thanks, OP. |
| I go to either the Newington or Brandywine locations. Never saw a dog at either one. |
| I go to the Wheaton Costco all the time … never seen a dog but maybe not looking closely enough. Will be on the lookout now |
| It's 100% disgusting when people bring dogs to the supermarket. I've seen dogs trying to snatch meat when their owners open the big freezer doors. Also dogs marking spots because they're stuck inside for over an hour. Enjoy your frozen chicken! |
| I love our dogs, I really do, but I cannot imagine a worse torture for me than to take them with me to Costco. OMG. They are a delight but they are DUMB. I mean, I already have to deal with my husband picking up every little thing and wanting to buy it ... I just can't imagine dealing with him AND our 3 labs at the same time. We wouldn't be able to get 2 steps in the door without people wanting to pet them or one of them wanting to go slobber over someone or one of them wanting to pee. No. Just no. |
