Of course we all understand that politics is not based on good guys vs bad guys.
Israel was strategically important for the U.S. and that’s why so much money was being spent on it (and is). Plus of course The Lobby.
However the U.S. needs to do an audit and reevaluate the significance of Israel as a geopolitical partner, plus investigate into all the lobbyists and their motives. And then reevaluate its support of the state of Israel.
The handwringing re: antisemitism, Holocaust and such is not really working anymore. Yes it was bad, yes Israel deserves to exist, but it doesn’t automatically mean the U.S. owes Israel unconditional support.

But no reason why we cannot continue to support Israel. Status quo doesn't need to change just because you open your mouth

Just like there’s no reason why the U.S. must continue to support Israel, right?

Well if that is your idea...it is like noses everyone has them.

But if enough noses have had enough? Then what? Go on - say it.

That is a theoretical possibility that the U.S. government will abandon Israel. It is a theoretical possibity that we will see the U.K. as an enemy and seek to overthrow it. It is a theoretical possibility that we will go to war with Argentina, anything is possible in idea land.

Maybe you're right - maybe the U.S. will never re-evaluate its relationship with Israel, and maybe we will still be paying Israel's bills and obstructing efforts to hold Israel accountable on the world stage. After all, look at history! Nothing ever changes under the sun, right?

Absolutely nothing will change until Hamas and Netanyahu are gone. Once Hamas is destroyed - and Israel has new elections - only then can the region move forward to some kind of resolution. In the meantime, the Arab world is staying out of it. Hezbollah will continue to remain on the Lebanese side of the border. The US will continue to maintain its relationship with Israel. And the war continues until Hamas is annihilated and the hostages are accounted for.

Until then, no change.

We are pulling out of NATO, abandoning Europe, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, etc. We have abandoned the Ukraine, Afghanistan, the Kurds, etc. All those countries were more aligned with US values vs Israel. Every argument justifying the US cutting and running on those countries hold doubly true for Israel.

Yes keep hoping the US will continue its unprecedented monetary and military support of Israel. The only thing stopping the US from cutting tires and support is 1600 AIPAC lobbyists because vast majority of Americans are pay attention to what Israel does now and they do not like it.

Maybe we will join with Chile to go to war against France. Maybe we will form an alliance with Cambodia to to fend off evil Nigeria. Anything is possible in our imaginations.

The Israeli army has apologized for shooting two Palestinians on bicycles carrying food. They thought it was an RPG.

I think this thread is stating to die out. At this point, everything that people wanted to say has been said and then some.

We are all just waiting for the ceasefire to finally come to fruition if it even comes .

This, plus to me the pro Israel posters who continue to stand with Israel’s action are just not people you can have a rational exchange of relevant ideas with. No, I am not a Russian troll. I just am pretty sickened that they cannot even acknowledge that damage Israel has caused and all they are to discuss is the harm they’ve suffered. Plus, they can’t even seem to recognize and express sorrow for that harm that Israel has caused and is still causing.

100k dead and missing Palestinians way out weigh the harm on their side (which is horrible too, I’m not excising Hamas)

You will remain frustrated if you expect anyone to compromise after a terrorist attack. Actions have consequences. Post-terrorism isn't a time for negotiation--if that were the case everyone would terrorize to achieve their goals.

Stay mad.

Does this mean the Israeli actions will also have consequences.

The average Israeli and Gazan have nothing to do with the war but might sadly pay the price for their governments blood lust

DP. Of course the Israelis don't have to face consequences. They are chosen, FFS. Do as they say, not as they do!

Massacre’: Israel forces attack crowds waiting for aid in Gaza, killing 21
Palestinian officials call latest assault ‘premeditated’ as people seeking humanitarian supplies increasingly targeted.

At least 21 Palestinians have been killed after Israeli forces opened fire on thousands of people waiting for aid in Gaza City in the same area that was targeted hours earlier, government officials said.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza described the late Thursday attack as a “new, premeditated massacre” and said more than 150 people were wounded.

Witnesses told Al Jazeera that Israeli forces had used helicopters, tanks and drones to target thousands of people waiting on food trucks.

It was the latest in a string of assaults on people desperately in need of food and other essential supplies as Israel continues to obstruct and severely control the entry of aid into the enclave.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/3/15/massacre-israel-forces-attack-crowds-waiting-for-aid-in-gaza-killing-21

Israel needs to be pay for these crimes.

Be pay? Your grammar is slipping, Vlad.

Anyhow, it looks like that latest attack on a humanitarian convoy was not IDF and in fact IDF has aerial video footage showing armed Hamas on the ground firing guns in the midst of the crowd. Yet another Hamas lie. Yet another thing IDF was falsely blamed for.

The ‘Vlad’ here screams senile boomer!

Plenty of this on the Ukraine thread too. There is clearly someone obsessed with Putin, using “you must be a Russian troll” in lieu of legit arguments. Maybe it’s a bunch of people, idk

The constant language mistakes on the anti-Ukraine and anti-Israel threads scream posts by foreign, non-native English speakers. Some of it's obvious, some more subtle but there's a few other tells too. If it's a bunch of people it's weird that they all make the same mistakes.

The question of Russian trolls was raised a while back with the admin of this site - he said he didn’t have any indication of that. Maybe it has changed, but there are many non native speakers who don’t agree with US foreign policy in Ukraine or Israel. They aren’t necessarily trolls, let alone paid ones. Calling a dissenting voice Vlad doesn’t add anything to the discussion. Besides, you are offending non native speakers and people named Vlad or Vladimir. It becomes annoying.

You missed this part, which was the legit argument.

Funny that you are so knee-jerk defensive about being called a foreign troll that you totally missed it. Gee now I wonder why someone who supposedly isn't a foreign troll would be so fast to try and deflect away from that rather than actually speaking to the legit argument. Not that there's much that you can actually say about the legit argument either, given the video showing armed Hamas militia on the ground firing their guns amidst the scrambling crowd. So, ultimately you lose on both points. You should have stayed in bed.

Calm down, no need to create a huge reply.
I am a different poster. You have a legit argument but you are losing points because you resort to calling people Vlad.

Yes, this is true.
The Lobby is very powerful.
But I am sure slavery seemed a forever thing, too.
Then, the status quo on the 1950s and 1960s also.
And look at this country now.
It would actually be interesting to see what makes the tides turn in the realm of public opinion.
It’s amazing how it’s like two different countries - in the times of the civil rights movement and now.
It may well happen again.

The Mukhabarat chief tried for 4 years from 1997- 2001 to pass on critical intel on Bin Laden's connections and plans but US Dept of State ( Albright ) repeatedly obstructed the FBI's going to Sudan to examine the Mukhabarat Intel files on OBL- when there was still time to prevent 9/11.

It must be publicly aired that the source of the false Intel telling US Dept of State, to disregard Sudan's Intel , is the one country that would benefit from the American response to repeated attacks against it ( 1998 Embassies, the Cole and finally 9/11) - what one country wants the US to fight it's enemies for it : Israel .

Nope. The U.S. government doesn't have to do any of this, and will not.

Here we go again with the Chosen People guy. The “what do you want us to do about it?” guy. The “just because you want something doesn’t mean the U.S. has to change for you” guy. The promised land guy. The “IDF are the heroes of Gaza because their humanitarian mission is saving them from Hamas” guy.

And you are a guy.

World is made up of guys (and gals)

Groundbreaking revelation.

All these guys and girls have thoughts and ruminations.

You have a lot of thoughts! Are yours the only ones that matter? Nope. They actually may be of no importance, or even wrong.

There's a difference - you DESPERATELY want the status quo to persist because it absurdly, unfairly has benefited the State of Israel for 75 years. You're afraid of accountability in Israel. You're fearful of the U.S. (which is not even your country, by the way) gradually shifting its FP posture and finally forcing Israel to face accountability for its conduct on the world stage. Basically you've lulled yourself into believing that the free pass (and free lunch) that Israel has been provided on the basis of what occurred in WWII would never come to an end. That the holocaust guilt that has been plastered over everyone, not just Europe, would be the "Get out of jail free" card that Israel and scumbags like Mileikowsky and Smotrich and Ben Gvir could count on forever.

You fool.

Everything comes to an end. Did you really think this malignancy would be allowed to go on forever and ever.

I have to agree with this. Until fairly recently, I was unaware of the extent of Israel's crimes against humanity from the early days of Zionism until the present. The Palestinian people have suffered unconscionable historical injustices, and Israel is currently committing genocide in Gaza and state-sponsored terrorism in the West Bank. It's time for fairness and accountability. AIPAC has a lot of money and power, but it can't stop the sea change in public opinion that is underway. The tired old tropes Israel has trotted out for decades have lost currency.

Anyone with a clue knows there is a proliferation of VPNs and other ways to hide ones tracks online.

Also, last time I checked this board was "DC Urban Moms and Dads" and not some international forum - as such one can only assume that anyone coming here who isn't a DC Urban Mom or Dad has likely come here to push an agenda. And that keeps coming through over and over and over again. Pretty sure that a huge number of these anti-Israel and anti-Ukraine posts are coming from a handful of the same posters. It's to the point where your posting style is so recognizable. Which is why people keep throwing that Vlad joke at you. If you're annoyed by it, too bad. Maybe try some other message board where people don't know you.
