**New basketball mom alert**
Most registrations like the Fairfax stars allow for team-only signs ups. DS is rising 5th and plays decent and we would like for him to tryout the Stars or similar leagues in the area. Are there no options for DS unless he's doing travel/AAU to play in these leagues? |
| Find your local team that participates in FCYBL. Tryouts are happening now. Teams are by zipcode. You can see a list here if you click around, http://www.fcybl.org/ |
This~ Move fast as tryouts are happening soon/this weekend or upcoming (depend on your location). |
| Is ELBL too far for you? |
How much is registration? My son wants to tryout with Vienna’s 6th grade team and I can’t find any information on pricing? |
| My kids have played for a two different FCBYL teams- it's always been a couple of hundred for registration including the uniform. The teams that do names on jerseys and backpacks and practice jerseys and warmup shirts cost more than those that just do numbered jerseys |
This website is hard to navigate. Where to I put in the zipcode? |

I've never seen an FCYBL team charge for tryouts. Make sure you look at zip codes you're eligible for - usually there are two clubs per zip code you can try out for (example, we're in Falls Church and can do Falls Church or McLean) |
|
Every org has a different price. It will be in the $200-$400 range depending on the uniform.
Your son can try out for any fcybl team in the county you live in but his best chance of making a team would be one of the two teams his zip code is assigned for. |
I wouldnt assume two teams per zip code- plenty of zipcodes only have one |
| Really! I thought they all had two. Only having one option is kind of a bummer. |
| What's better for an 8th grade boy, BRYC or Chantilly? Those are our assigned places. |
It can be hard to get on a team as an 8th grader. Coaches will have 'their" kids they coached for years and your kid has to be a LOT better to bump a long time player. I would try out for both to maximize your son's chances. |
