Don’t say, a pool 🤣 we can’t afford one and want something for the home. We are looking for a cardio machine for a 70+ year old with arthritis in his knees and hips. Researching through google has left me more confused than when I began this journey. |
An indoor bike. no impact on your knees and hips. |
Damn it. I was going to say pool. I love my water fitness classes at OneLife. I'm the youngest one there by decades (and I'm no spring chicken). $39 a month, well worth it. |
Lol - still a good recommendation for others. TFS |
Bike or elliptical. Depends on where the arthritis is and which movement feels better |
A pool |
Concept 2 rower |
Do not get a climber.
That's what I got at the beginning of the pandemic, because I hate bikes and have no trouble mountain climbing, and it hurt my knees. Maybe I used it too much? No idea. |
Why can’t it be a membership through Silver Sneakers? Water aerobics is the only exercise that helps my aching joints. |
Most people at this age use exercise equipment for about a month. A better use of money would be an inexpensive silver sneakers gym membership where he can walk on the treadmill. Pay for a few sessions with a personal trainer- tell them you just want instruction on using light weights properly, don’t let them discuss goals and up sell nonsense with him. Mostly women at aqua classes, he probably would feel emasculated. |
This should probably read MOST folks of any age, we need the diversion of an outing and seeing people. |
+this and this alone |
recumbent bike - but you have to answer honestly about whether they will use it or not. |
