Athletic powerhouses of the ISL

Which schools are the most rounded when it comes to sports in the ISL? We are considering multiple schools and don’t want our DD to attend a school where one sport dominates.

SAES, I would not say there is a stand out sport.

There really aren’t many places where one girls’ sport gets a ton of school attention. I’m a think of one local stand out team and only students there can really speak to how much day to day attention that creates.

I think it varies too much in sport but Sidwell, Potomac, Visi, and Maret come to mind.

SSSAS

There aren’t that many schools in the ISL though and I suspect someone could make an argument for most of the schools.

I am still pondering "athletic powerhouse" and ISL.

Sidwell basketball, Flint Hill volleyball, St Stephens, Visi, Stoneridge lacrosse are all nationally ranked - not too shabby, given their collective size.

Cross-country/track and field at GDS. But again, in general ISL and "athletic powerhouse" are generally not mentioned in the same breath.

Stone Ridge all around best teams for athletics.

Right, I just can't imagine these teams "dominating" the school culture or athletics department to the detriment of other girls' sports, which is how I read OP's question. If OP is concerned about the ability to make specific teams, that is certainly an issue if a school has a nationally ranked team in a sport of interest and kid has average talent.

Holton has been winning the XC ISL in recent years.

At SSSAS, lacrosse absolutely dominates girls sports.
-a former SSSAS family who is so happy to now be at a different school

There are like 58 schools in the ISL (ok, not quite that many, but a lot). Can't think of any that are top tier across the board.

Holton is the most competitive across all sports. Second is probably Stone Ridge. Then other schools will be dominant in individual sports. Sidwell in BB, Soccer and Tennis. Flint Hill in Volleyball. Etc.
