| What is the best way to recoup money on a 20 year old but excellent condition fairly expensive bedroom set- sleighbed king, two nighstands, bureau with mirror. In montgomery county? |
| Give it away. Donate to Goodwill for a tax deduction. No one will pay you to haul it away. Set it free. |
| That has little value today. Someone will be doing you a favor by hauling it away. |
| It’s Durham brand if that makes any difference. Still very nice but I am sick of it |
| OP again, why would no one want a solid wood bedroom set anymore? |
Brand makes no difference. Put it on your local freecycle page. |
| You offer it for free/donate or you'll be paying someone to move it for you. |
Why don’t you want it? |
People do still want solid wood sets. It modern styles that are brand new. Neither of which apply to you. And certainly not for someone looking to recoup some of the original purchase price. |
| They will take it of free but you won’t recoup your investment. Buyers will have to rent a truck to move it as well, in most cases, so that costs them money. It’s an out of date style so people aren’t lining up to pay $$$ for it. |
Because Boomers/older Gen X already have furniture, and Millennials/Gen Z can’t afford 5,000 SF houses in which to put your big ass furniture. |
| You can post it on Craigslist/Facebook for a few hundred dollars. But good chance you won’t get anyone, or the people who contact you flake out. |
| For sale: 20 year old bedroom set. Scratches, dings, and chipped paint on several of the pieces. Mirror has large crack in middle — still reflective though. Mattress is also 20 years old. Has some blood, urine, and poop stains. I also conceived and birthed three kids on it. And my 50 dogs slept on it every night. They’re cleanish though. Only a few flea infestations over the years. Originally paid $10k. Selling for $9800 firm. You pick up. |
|
| You don’t. It’s fully depreciated and out of style. You give it away if anyone will take it. |
