Any other woman here who loves sports as much as her husband or more? I read on DCUM all the time about how women hate football season and dislike watching sports. My mom is like this. Somehow she has two daughters who love all sports. I don’t think there is a sport I won’t watch. I play or have played a ton of sports (soccer, softball, basketball, skiing, swimming, etc).
I am afraid my kids aren’t going to love sports and I won’t know what to do with them on weekends. |

The universe/god will always give you a child that will stretch your need to learn new things. Perhaps you will have an artistic child and you will need to learn to love that to bond.
Good luck on your journey to grow as a person. |
Agreed!!! LOL. You will find something!!! |

I am assuming your last line is in jest?
Neither DH and I particularly like watching sports. We will watch some of the Olympics and he tries to watch big games to be able to keep up with conversations at work. But he is much more into actually playing sports and keeping himself fit, and he pushes for weekend family plans that involve physical activity. He has taught our kids to throw a football and he shoots hoops with our son. I have to say, I’m really grateful he doesn’t spend weekends watching sports or paying video games with friends. |
Haha yes - god dcum never disappoints. Of course it was in jest. I find it amusing and appreciate that my mom sat through 14+ years of sports for my sister and I and watched every game even though she truly didn’t like sports. Never played any and probably didn’t know the rules to most of them. But she sat there for every game. I will obviously do the same for my kids no matter what they are involved in! And DH and I are active and don’t play video games. So I guess that is something. But I do love watching sports! |
Are you married? with kids currently? or is this just some big hypothetical? |
|
I love sports. My husband likes sports, but not nearly as much as I do. I've coached my kids in one sport and been a spectator for the other sports my kids play.
I've also gone to all the recitals, concerts and plays that my kids were in. 4th grade band concert vs 4th grade basketball game...give me the basketball game any day. But I still take my kids to the activities that interest them. |

Subject line is confusing.
You love sports as much as your husband does too…. Or you love sports commensurate as your love for your husband? |
I love the grammarians keeping it real. |

My husband and I are both very athletic and love to play sports. I played my sport from age 5-22 (in college).
BUT- neither of us particularly like to watch sports. The World Cup, FIFA soccer and March Madness we will watch. Our sons love to watch soccer and our younger one likes basketball. Neither are fanatic or regular viewers though. I do love March Madness because there are so many Cinderella stories and some of these guys won't go pro. I love the back stories and the college fans. |
| I think people who love watching sports must need very simple story lines. |
Then you’re assuming incorrectly. - another wife who loves sports (playing and watching them) but also loves a whole host of other things (live theater, novels, nonfiction, etc. ) |
| You must not actually like sports if you think that no other women do. It's not possible to go to games, watch at bars, even engage with fandoms online and think that it's 100% men and super-special you, all alone, the only woman who gets it. |
| I love football and baseball. During the Olympics I'll watch literally anything. But football is probably my favorite. But I have do something else besides watch the games. So I cook almost all day Sunday during football season. My kid loves it! |
