Gyn has no appts available

Where to go for a gyn problem when one can't get an appt? Booked up for at least 2 months. I probably have ovarian cyst or possibly an infection or even a hernia. GP practice not helpful at all, this isn't in their lane it seems- just organized some blood work, might order CT scan. But there are better ways to start.

Go to Planned Parenthood. Exam, ordering ultrasound, testing for infections is all a very standard part of what they do. The hernia piece may be outside their scope (PCP couldn’t handle?) but it sounds like you can get most of what you need there

Another unforeseen fallout to overturning Roe v Wade.

Do you have a GYN that you have seen before? Or, are you trying to schedule as a new patient?

Call everyday and ask about cancellations. Last resort to to er.

Say it’s an emergency. Mine always fits you in if it’s an emergency issue

-most types of hernia would be GP, not gyn
-be specific with GP. Tell them you ob can’t get you in and you want a pelvic ultrasound to rule out a cyst.
-An urgent care should be able to swab for infection if your GP won’t

????? She’s not looking for an abortions and I doubt the gyn is busy because of last-minute abortions. Our gyn office is packed because everyone put off annuals and the like during the pandemic. Also they are experiencing an uptick of pregnancies now that others are feeling better about the end of the pandemic.

The unforeseen (except it was very much predictable and likely intended) is closure of planned Parenthood, despite that the majority of what it does is provide gyn care, not abortions.

I do have a regular gyn practice, and an appt scheduled for 2 months away..arranged last May! I did call and there was no joy.

Welp, going for the CT scan early next week. This is definitely getting worse, so at least I'll have that. Not thrilled about the radiation, though.

Ours has a six-month way on while it does that but would 100% get me and same week if I had an issue like a cyst. Sounds like you need to find a different practice

Sometimes the office makes you call in everyday to ask about cancellation appointment. Call and be super nice and beg everyday. Good luck.
