I am 50 with coloring similar to Jennifer Garner ( brunette, light skin). I’m looking for an everyday color that looks good with everything. What brand/colors do you recommend?
|
|
Look for colors that say “neutral,” rather than “warm,” “peachy,” or “cool.” It doesn’t help that you don’t seem to know your skin tone. If gold jewelry looks best on you, you’re likely a warm; silver, likely a cool. Neutral if you can pull off either.
If autumnal colors look good on you, or pastels, you are likely a warm; if jewel tones look best on you, you are likely cool. Either = neutral. Try Estée Lauder Rebellious Rose or Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. |
| Walk yourself into a sephora or blue mercury and ask for help. |

You gotta go try lipsticks on. It's almost impossible to buy online.
I'm a cool brunette and wear all sorts of colors because the shades vary so much. Head to Sephora or Ulta. |
Yep. Let the experts look at you and advise accordingly. |

| Charlotte Tillbury Pillow Talk |
| Sally's beauty has an amazing app for this. |
| Don’t do it. During the pandemic, I purchased a bunch of new lipstick colors online and none of them worked. The looked fine online but when I tried them on, they were all too light and frosty. Just go into the store and try on. |
At night, I do Loreal saucy mauve |
| Clinique has a feature where your phone camera will take your picture and you can “try” on different lipsticks. The colors come out different than you may think they will. I’m sure other apps have similar features. |

If you have a Mary Kay lady they usually will send you samples and help you pick the right shade - products are good quality and well priced. Better than shopping online and easier than going to the mall.
I don’t like Mary Kay for everything but almost exclusively for lip and eye makeup. |
| Agree that Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk is a good candidate for a “looks good on everybody” neutral. |
