Well, just to keep this school year more interesting, here we go!
Got an alert from our ACPS school about a close contact for monkeypox, followed by a call from the Alexandria Health Dept. We have to monitor and track our child’s symptoms for 10 days. No quarantine for now, but this is unnerving to say the least. These poor kids too! |
Thank Trumpies |
Which school? |
LOL |
Was it reported school wide that there is a case? And you were notified specifically as a close contact? Good luck. Don’t stress, hopefully it’s just extremely precautionary |
That comment makes no sense. |
Exactly. That poster is clearly confused. |
I had heard from a friend over the weekend that there was a case at the high school, very curious if this is the same case or if there is a 2nd case at a different school. |
Wait, they JUST NOW said that monkeypox was a sexually transmitted disease. Because literally all cases were from sexual contact. They just announced that today or yesterday. |
That’s really a misinterpretation of the facts. It’s currently being transmitted primarily through sexual contact, but sexual contact is not required for transmission. It makes me said that large numbers of people don’t seem capable of understanding the distinction. |
^ *”makes me sad”. Stupid phone. |
Tell me you watch Fox News, without telling me watch Fox News! |
Sorry, I don't work for the World Health Organization. You'll have to take that up with them directly. |
Wrong. I heard it on NPR while driving. |
Do you have a link? I’m not finding such a statement on their website. https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/monkeypox |
