| Is this successful or not? What say you? |
| its more than most 30yo journalism grads i know |
What about non-journalism grads/30yo not working in journalism? |
You cannot compare |
| what is even the point of this? 130k is a good salary for a journalism job for someone at 30. It is an extremely competitive field so getting a "real job" is a big deal, and the field tends to pay low, so 130k is considered excellent. |
|
Definitely an outlier - high salary
And I know a lot of journalists |
| What kind of Journalism job? |
| What about for non-journalists? Is 130k a good salary only for journalists, or for anyone? |
Stop posting these questions about whether 130k is good. Make a budget. Does it work for you? THat's all that matters, not what other people in wildly different career paths make. |

having a job as a journalist in 2022 and getting paid is pretty much shocking at this point.
Of course, maybe the journalism major isn't working for a newspaper / news station and is a blogger or youtuber. |

Sorry
"Average Journalism Major Salary is $53,479" Updated August 22, 2022 This is not even a starting salary |
| Tech writer here with decades of experience. I make just under $100k, so I’d have to say that person is doing pretty well at 30. |
it's terrible, you should be ashamed. how can anyone possibly live on that salary, which is barely twice the median HHI in these United States. Especially for a journalist, since journalism is a famously high-paying field with tons of stability and advancement. |
It's awful, terrible, living in poverty! |
