I don’t know what to think now. It’s possible she’s on steroids and has ballooned, and is embarrassed or not ready to reveal herself. That’s fine, but then don’t post a clearly, and badly, edited photo.

It’s possible she has a colostomy bag and wants privacy. That’s also fine, but so much more easily hidden under a dress, flowing top, spring jacket, etc.

If she can’t stand, a current photo could have been taken in a chair, on a couch, etc, rather quickly. Louis would be expected to flub the picture and the other two children have always been cooperative for the camera. Nothing surprising here.

The bottom line is SOMETHING is amiss.

She either looks like crap, can’t stand, or has an embarrassing implement related to her recovery.

Or maybe they are getting a divorce and their PR team just sucks.

It’s not just the Kate aspect that’s weird. It’s William and the palaces behavior.

In past crises, when William and Kate have been out at event they are smiling and thanking well wishers. It’s all “thank you so much, so-and-so is on the mend and the family will be fine.” William has been tight lipped here. Canceling appearances. Issuing statements with his crest alone. Not pictured with his kids or father. The palace is denying things -with terrible excuses- that they would never acknowledge in the past.

The royal family is in crisis. There is something deeply wrong with William and Kate’s relationship and possibly impacting relationships further into the royal family. I don’t know exactly what, but W & K’s estrangement seems like only the tip of the iceberg.

All of this. What the people who are mad about this speculation don't understand is that many of us are not upset about Kate being out of the public eye, whether she's taking time to recover or just needed a break. I don't even care what her medical issue is! She's entitled to sick leave or R&R or whatever, and her actual "job" is to be a mother, essentially, so I don't really think it's that important that she's not going to events.

The issue is the behavior of William and the palace is weird, erratic, totally inconsistent with the past, and is making Kate's absence seem like it's a big deal.

When they first announced her surgery and recovery, my only thought was "oh I wish her the best, I hope she recovers well." I don't even care about the royals really, but I'm a mom in my 40s who has had a serious health issue and it's hard and I just felt empathetic.

And I still feel empathetic towards Kate, who I do think must be going through some kind of medical issue. But the palace's and William's behavior during her absence has been SO WEIRD that I also think something else is going on because if this was genuinely just about her recuperating from a planned surgery and nothing more, they would have had a straightforward PR plan for it and followed it and the only people who would be speculating are fringe crazies on social media. At this point a lot of us who are normal, non-conspiracy theorists are looking at this going "wtf is going on?"

Sums up my opinion! The deception and the conflicting statements has been awful. Kate is out of commission and they're not rallying behind her. That is sad.

They are doing their best to protect her and her privacy. From the insane Internet speculation.

They probably think it’s a ridiculous charade to keep this surgery private when we’ve received all the information from the actual top of the food chain regarding his surgery minus the actual cancer diagnosis or specific type of cancer.

This is going to blow your mind- but diffrent people choose to handle similar situations differently.

Yup, and they greatly underestimated how mentally ill some people atr, and how vocal they are about it.

People don't like to be told no, they fully believe they are entitled to everything.
It wasn't enough that they were told she wasn't well and was having surgery and would be out of commission for some time. No, they felt they needed to know exactly why.
Because they aren't acting exactly as they want well that entitles them to create stories about Divorce, and DV- how sick do you have to be to gleefully imagine a woman being abused by her husband because she isn't up taking pictures like you want her to?

I woke up this morning thinking they’d have posted a short video with Kate and William speaking, much like how The Queen eventually, reluctantly spoke after Diana died. I would have been happy to be proved wrong and to see her alive and well, by her husband’s side.

You were given an answer way back in December, but you didn't like it and felt entitled to more so you and others like you created some stories in your head to try and force the RF to release more info about her health to satiate your curiosity. You made up stories about DV and divorce, not simple questions btw. The palace needs to release the original photo for the crazies spreading conspiracy theories regarding her death, suffering of domestic violence at the hands of William (lol), and divorce. I think that’s a likely reason why there is no current photo but more likely this an old photo and they had to change the clothes, etc. to not be so obvious. Except they did a terrible job doing so.

After seeing that TikTok explaining that the pic was probably from November 2023 (the same day Kate and the kids attended an event at a baby bank) and that the photo shopping included changing some colors on everyone's outfits to obscure the fact that it was from the same day, I think that the real problem here is not that the photo was retouched but that it was manipulated to make it appear to be a new photo, and was posted with a "2024" caption, and this was viewed as intentionally misleading, which is why the news agencies pulled it.

It also explains why the most glaring Photoshop errors are where they are. The area around Charlotte's waist looks weird because they altered her skirt to make it plaid. The area around Kate's neck looks weird because they altered her sweater to make it black.

So if the palace released an unedited photo, it would make it very obvious that the clothing was changed to throw people off the fact that it was a photo from 4 months ago, when they were trying to pass it off as a current photo to quell rumors about Kate's whereabouts and well being.

I don't even care that they used an old photo, btw, nor do I think anyone is a owed a current "proof of life" photo. But I do find it weird and concerning that the palace apparently felt compelled to provide a current photo and was unable to do so, so instead posted an old photo and doctored it to try and make it look more recent. Why??
