Do you have the breakdown?

I don’t think 20 kids are going to ivy. More like 15, but some were admitted to multiple ivies.

15 is still an excellent number. Well done Sidwell!

Greater than 15, less than 20 is what my DC told me. Not counting individuals admitted to multiple Ivies. lets say 17.5

Do you know how many of these Ivy/Stanford acceptances were from ED/REA? How many from regular decision?

Roughly: 1/3 ED, 2/3 RD

NP. Mostly Legacy/Athlete/URM

No way. there must be at least a few that aren't in these buckets?

Many/most are not in those buckets.

Not true. The vast majority are legacy/athlete/urm.

I know people in these buckets try to spread the rumor. Their purpose is to discourage kids with top stats but not in those buckets in the same school with their kids to not apply the very top schools. The goal is to increase their kids’ chance.

Maybe. But facts are facts: This year the vast majority are definitely legacy/athlete/urm. One may not recognize legacy quite as easily -- you don't know the families.

Is this actually true? Are most Ivy admits from Sidwell "legacy/athlete/urm"

No. Truth is truth and facts are facts even if they don’t correlate to your preconceived notions of what college admissions should look like.

Yes, it definitely is. It's the same at GDS this year and even Wilson and Walls. Almost to a person.

No, it isn't true at all. That doesn't mean there aren't legacies and other hooks, but it isn't all or most of them.

so funny that you would lecture anyone about truth and facts when you're the one peddling a fiction.

Congratulations. All the more remarkable for being among the very few (one or two ?) cases at the school to have been admitted to an Ivy without one of these hooks.

It IS actually nearly all of them.

No, it actually isn't...at least for the ones I know.

The kids I know heading to Yale are legacies and have well known parents (at least in academic/political circles). All but one of the kids I know going to Harvard are legacyand/or children of well knowm public figures. The only non-hooked kid I know of going to an Ivy has does public interest work to such an extent they have a following of young people across the country. Hooks matter.

So what. I know a half dozen going to Harvard, Yale and Princeton who are unhooked.

These are nice, very smart kids who have worked really hard that you guys are talking about. It is a very smart class. They even have a handful of Presidential scholar semi finalist. Please don’t tell me that every single one of those doesn’t deserve their acceptances. We should be applauding and celebrating them all.

Agree that they are all terrific students, but that is not the point.. Nearly all of those who got in had a legacy/athlete/rum hook. There are some on this forum questioning this point and they are wrong.
