Leftist daughter of a friend of mine who lives in Arlington is shocked, *shocked* at the price of airline tickets, bus tickets, etc to go up north for the 4th July. She doesnât own a car becauseâŚenvironment and âgas is expensive anywayâ. Does not link her vote to all this. Amazingly ignorant |
Please read this analysis as to why this bill won't do anything. https://mishtalk.com/economics/gas-prices-hit-another-record-high-on-thursday-whats-biden-doing |
Oh I completely agree. Same with releasing the strategic oil reserve. Again there is little the Dems can do in the near term to address oil prices. However, short of pulling aid to Ukraine and letting Russia win, I donât see what the Râs have to offer. |
Of course it won't do anything. Pelosi knows this. So do all the other Dems. But, it helps advance the narrative they want out there that the record prices are due to "price gouging" when they have absolutely ZERO evidence that this is the case. They have to shift the blame. We do have evidence that Biden took a plethora of actions days into his presidency that sent the message to oil and gas companies that he was essentially declaring war on them. Why would they produce more and invest more when they know they will only be penalized for doing so? Biden WANTS higher gas prices. He believes it will help speed up the new green deal. As we have seen in the past year and a half, Biden's decisions and instincts have been all wrong. Gas prices hit another record high today. This was his interior dept. secretary just yesterday: |
Gas leases available or being cancelled today do nothing for gas prices today.
The main issue is that Saudi Arabia is siding with the Russians against the US and the west. Period. |
Yea for loser Republicans. You know us blue voters would pay $5000 a ticket so we donât have to share the park with redneck Republican hicks right? |
THIS. Supply is politically constrained by Saudis/OPEC and then the Russian embargo. U.S. producers are still not back to pre-COVID capacity, but they are re-opening. Some are slow-walking it on purpose. The issue as I see it is that the transition from fossils to green will be slow and take decades. Fossil industry will have a difficult time justifying 20-30 year investments when they know more and more will be invested in green tech and EVs. What we have is a market failure that will require the federal government to step-in and coordinate sufficient supply and investment for national security reasons. |
Yep. I guess I shouldn't be surprised given that 74 million people voted for Trump, but I'm constantly amazed at the sheer number of people who are operating under the assumption that presidents can control gas prices and inflation using knobs on their desk. Simpletons have simplistic worldviews, I guess. |
Your statement is ridiculous. Presidents absolutely have an impact on gas prices AND inflation when they implement policies that are detrimental to economic growth AND spend money that we don't have. Biden has done both. And, then, the people in the top levels of his administration cannot even admit that gas prices are too high. |
The elite left want gas and oil prices to go up, up, up. They say it publicly from time to time. There is nothing wrong with that position. They should own it. |

Look, one of the simpletons I was talking about. |
When you can't defend your ideas, you name call. How predictable. |
