Current rate for a nanny in Howard county

Anonymous
How much should we pay a nanny to take care of one baby (under 1 year old), M-F, 6-8 hours/day? No college degree required.

A Full-Time Nanny(with 5+ years of experienced) rate starts at $25, 10 days PTO paid, 5 sick days, and most nannies are getting health insurance stipend. Also, mileage reimbursement IF baby needs to be driven around.

Totally agree $25-30hr, 10 days vacation, 5 sick days, $150-250/mo health insurance stipend

ROFL. No that is way too high for Howard County. Try $18-20/hour.

I know people pay around $20-25/hr for singles and $30-35/hr for multiples (I have twins and am part of CAMOM, the Columbia Area Mothers of Multiples and know a number of twin families who have done this).

Hahaha these posters are a joke. No way should you pay more than $20 and probably less.

That's right because in Howard County all nannies get 30% off groceries, rent/mortgage, gasoline, basically 30% off everything. NOT!

You pay what she charges.

And if someone asks for more than $20 you laugh and move on.

Wonder if she will be laughing sitting in the hospital when whoever agreed to 20$ had no experience and out of frustration/cheap labor shakes her child

So you claim that anyone paid less than $20/hour is a murdering child abuser. Lol right.

You get what you pay for.. 20$ might be a provider with no experience with children let alone babies who cry and may snap. Mom would get a better pool of applicants paying market rate and not being cheap with your suggestion of 20$. Everyone else has disagreed with your price point btw rate is 25$ starting per hour

Send your child to daycare if you can’t afford a Nanny. FYI Nannies pay rent, groceries, car and health insurance, gasoline. Good luck finding someone for $20 hourly. Cheap labor ain’t joke.

In my DC neighborhood, for a single kid, it’s somewhere between $20-25, with 10 days vacation (plus fed holidays), 5 days ssick, and health insurance. Often commute stipend as well.

PG county, $32 for infant and preschooler who is in school half day.

Less than $20 is a joke, haha. Unless it is a teen living with parents.
