Did anyone root for Brian Krakow in the My so-called life?

Just rewatched the whole series with my 11 year old. A fantastic show that aged extremely well. It covers a lot of different topics and provides meaningful perspectives on each. Acting is insanely good. Shows like Gossip girl and Felicity are just total garbage in comparison.

As for the plot, I rooted for Brian the whole time, just like i did 20+ years ago. i mean Jordan is beatuful for sure, but Brian understands Angela so much better and loves her for what she is. anyway, just wondering if anyone else was on team Brian?

No. I was a sucker for Jordan. What can I say…

OP here. so I found this interview with the show creator and the plan going forwards was... drumroll

"Delia [the girl Brian liked but rejected because of Angela] and Brian would have been boyfriend and girlfriend, and he would have told everything about it to Angela. He would have used Angela to help him through that relationship, for advice and stuff. And it would begin to sort of destroy her.

Q:Because she would have been with Jordan?

A: She would be in a relationship with Jordan, Brian would be in a relationship with Delia, and they would be longing for each other, basically

I loved it as a kid, rewatched it very recently, and almost started a post here as well. It has aged so well but it’s wild watching it from an adult perspective when all my memories are from a young teen’s perspective. I take away very different things now. But man, Winnie Holzman just nailed it.

I can’t say I was Team Krakow though. Even tho of course Jordan was bound to break her heart.

Also, afterwards I went down a google rabbit hole and the actress who played Rayanne married into British royalty or something??

I’ve been meaning to do a rewatch along with The Boiler Room podcast. Is it streaming anywhere?

+1. Jordan Catalano was too dreamy. Brian Krakow didn't stand a chance.

Jordan Catalano is still one of the hottest guys I can think of, even after all these years. Later Jared Leto never held up but damn, he looked good then.

Same. I don’t buy them “longing for each other” if that was the direction the show was headed. Maybe if he had a glow up?

I absolutely rooted for Brian, even knowing that Angela wouldn't be interested.

Oh come on, that last scene as she's driving off with Jordan but staring out the window at Brian - you know those two are meant to be, once he's grown up a little and she's had her fling!

I'll have to watch again but I feel like it had vibes of the nerd feeling sort of bitter that this gorgeous girl was more interested in the hot guy. If she wasn't attracted to him, she shouldn't go for him.
