Explain like I am 5: mymcpsweb, synergy, parentvue

mymcpsweb, synergy, parentvue: what is the difference?
Do I need to register separately for each one and do they convey different information to me?

Synergy is the host for TeacherVUE, StudentVue, and ParentVue. All three of these provide access to student’s academic and attendance records. Which one you use depends on your role (teacher, student, or parent).

I though MyMCPS web was pretty much discontinued.

Thanks! I'm a parent so I only use parentVue?

MCPS seems to be so behind the times. There are platforms that handle all of these things in one. This is probably the one area where private schools have the advantage. The Blackbaud platform will do all these things and it’s mobile friendly. One log in for every single thing related to school.

Uh oh are you saying I need to log in 3 times?

Do you mean MyMCPS Classroom? That is how MCPS brands Canvas, which is the course management system. This is where assignments are given and turned in.

There’s also canvas and google. Fun!

You only register once. If you log in to ParentVue on the web, not the app, and go to Parent Resources, then you can get to MyMCMS Classroom, already logged in.

I check things through my kids accounts as it has more.

Can you get into your kids' MyMCPSClassroom, logging in as someone who has access to the actual assignments that they have turned in?

How do I do that? My kid is only 5. I didn't get any online registration info for him

Sorry, OP. I have been doing this for years with two kids and it just feels so incredibly disorganized. With Google Classroom and My MCPS classroom and Synergy and ParentVUE.

I usually just use my kid’s log-in and look at things using that.

Your kid will get a log-in number and password at school.

Off-topic, but ask your kids to show you what games, etc they are playing on their Chromebooks at school. Your kids will be so excited to show you and you will get a feel for what kinds of things they are doing.

When I am in myMCPS Classroom, I see a pull-down now where you can switch from your parent account (the observer role) to the student version. I think that's new this year. Don't see any actual classes yet, so can't tell how helpful that will be.

You should get info and your kids account number the first week of school. They will send it home and then you can log in.

When school starts you/he will get a log on and password. Either he can tell you or the teacher but at 5 its not much to worry about on there. Its more helpful in middle and high school to see if they did the assignments, etc.
