Would you give your MIL your Amazon password?

Anonymous
Mine asked so that she could order something using 2 day shipping since she’s not a prime member herself. Seems like some boundary crossing to me! It’s expensive but I offered to buy it for her instead but she says it will be ‘easier’ if she just orders it. What would you say?
Anonymous
I would not, but that’s because she would lose it and then try to reset it and then we would all be locked out.

No, I wouldn’t. She can send you the link to the item to order it for her. And I think you can even share prime benefits with a limited number of people. Let me look.

Does she have boundary issues generally speaking? This seems like a really weird request.

Yes she does.

If I did it just to not start an argument I would change the password afterwards.

No way.

I’m concerned she would also look at all of the things that I have previously ordered including some things I’d rather keep private!

This is amazing, thank you! DH has a tendency to reset the amazon password then forget the new password and we’ve had more arguments than I can count about f&;-$king passwords.

HELL NO. Offer once more to buy it and ship it to her, and if she protests, say “I’m sorry it didn’t work out. Let me know if you change your mind.”

NP. Then why are you even asking? She’s a known boundary stomper, and you’re asking us if it’s OK to let her cross a boundary?
Anonymous
Absolutely no! Either you order and have sent to her or she gets her own account. She can look at EVERYTHING a you have ever ordered. If you do it once, she will be asking forever. Just say no and tell you are the only one handling your account. Guaranteed she will mess up account by addresses and then what about returns if she does not like what she orders? She needs to get her own account.

Nope. She can send you the link.

And in the meantime, she’s looked at your entire purchase history and now knows that you spent $3.99 more on your mother’s Christmas gift than hers, and she saw the adult toy you bought last year, and she now knows that you’re a size 10 now instead of the 6 you were when you married your husband, tut-tut…
