Metropolitan Branch Trail -- What has happened to the trail?

While biking on the trail this afternoon, I noticed a group of boys throwing a football crossways the trail. Clearly blocking the trail on purpose. There was room to throw the football to the side. There was another boy with a pair of scissors destroying a sign.

Do the MPD police the trail on the weekend anymore? I hate to see such a wonderful resource go to waste.

So the fact that the OP didn't report being beaten or mugged suggests that the trail is actually improving.

Yes, 100% of people get mugged on the trail. Even the muggers get mugged. My 5 year old mugged someone on the trail last week.

C’mon, 4 incidents spanning 6 years is barely anything for a city like DC and is pretty clear that the trail has always been safe. I also doubt that last one was for “no reason”. Doesn’t sound plausible. Maybe not a good reason, but certainly there was a reason.

if the kids are blocking the trail, preventing people from passing, that's not right. There was plenty of space to throw the football.

Not PP, but I use the trail all the time. I think it's a great trail.
